Tori Amos does a lot of great covers. One of my favourites is '97 Bonnie and Clyde, originally by Eminem. Ignore the fan-made video (it was never a single), but the track is brilliant. It takes the comedy factor right out of the original and really goes for how dark the situation really is. Really a love or hate version though...

The only cover of an Edith Piaf song that has ever been any good: Grace Jones' version of La Vie en Rose. Amazing.

Most of Strange Little Girls is superb Gavin, but yeah, '97 Bonnie and Clyde is probably the highlight. It's so haunting, brilliant.

One of my co-workers introduced me to an interesting cover band known as the Easy Star All Stars. Yes, they may sound like those crappy pop cover bands that you find covering chart hits on those £2 compilation CDs, but they're actually doing genuinely interesting covers of well known albums - as reggae tunes.

So far, they've turned their attention to The Beatles (Easy Star's Lonely Hearts Dub Band)...
