Corkscrew's Inversions to be Part of Entrance Feature

As the title suggests. Alton Towers have submitted a planning application to the council applying to display the Corkscrews at the main entrance to the park, outside the admissions kiosks. It does look nice however, I think it may be better suited somewhere else such as theming for Thirteen or on the lawns etc. Here are the plans:

Tbh its silly and looked like the entrence to Thorpe.

I think they should put it somewhere else if they really want to display it.

Don't like it...

Defo should be somewhere else... With that image it makes the entrance look a bit cluttered for want of a better word...

In the gardens would've been better imo, sure fewer people would see it but it would be could to keep the gardens historical...

Put them on display... Just not there... Maybe near the car park/monorail station/hotels?

I also forgot to mention:

"The structure is steel and is proposed to be finished in a dark purple colour (PANTONE 274C). The stanchions are proposed to be finished in a gold colour (RAL 1001)"

Well, I like it, and it's pretty much the tribute everyone wanted last year. It's prominent and therefore a great dedication to the coaster. It's not right in front of the entrance, but set between the monorail station and the pay kiosks - there's a LOT of space there.

I reckon it'll look pretty cool :)

I can't believe you need planning permission to put this up, its only a few supports and some track and not like a complete roller coaster.

So the track is this colour:

The supports are this colour

Interesting. Should look good through on the entrance, be good if the train was lodged in the middle

^^ You need planning permission to put a sign up, let alone a huge piece of "artwork" like this.

I'm not totally sold on it there, but I'm sure it'll come to signify an exciting start to a day out for all of us.

Even with looking at the side views I'm still not sold tbh...

I want them there yes, but... I dunno... I like how open Alton's entrance plaza is... Since space in parks is usually hard to come by I like parks which have plenty of areas with space... And having lots of space at the entrance makes a good start to the day...

I really don't know... Maybe I'm just being difficult

That is well good. Better make an even amount of track on each side though as its off center in that pic. Really will wind me up leaving it like that.

I don't like it. As somebody said, Thorpe springs to mind, wand who wants that...

In the gardens would be good, it'd keep it's dinosaur/bone theme as well as it's like fossils...

But entrance: no, please for god sake no...

I like it actually to be honest. Not sure about the colour but everyone wanted the corkscrews up somewhere so at least they are being put up where everyone can see. It should look good I reckon.

I really like the idea!

Sure the Corkscrew deserves this and being right at the entrance the hommage will be in everyone's mind when they enter the park and before the leave the Towers.

Good one, although they could stick to the original colours.

Not sure on this tbh. I love the idea and glad they've done it. Just not there. It looks a mess and it's silly not having it's original colours. Would of been better probably to have them over the entrance where you drive in. So you drive under them. That way it wouldn't block the view of anything and everyone would see it (hotel guests won't where it is now if they go through the back entrance).
Will have to wait and see when it's up before I pass judgement though.

YES! AWESOME!

I am bloody pleased ha! I was convinced that they had just hoped everybody had forgotten since it had been a while since there was any talk about it. I thought, if they were going to put it anywhere, they would've put it where the last corner of the monorail was. We even saw footer work going on there, but it soon vanished. That was wierd.

A bit funny with the colour scheme to start off with, but if they didn't do anything to it it would look tacky and dated. At least this way it'll blend in with Towers Street and the entrance more.

Overall, very happy with this! I hope it had a cool plaque.
