What's new

Corkscrew (Flamingoland) Sold

S'not that bad. It is like, dated and **** so it's fair game really... To be honest they sould replace it with something in the same uh, "area" or what ever to it. A "My first Upside down" style coaster. What exactly would fit in that category. They already have Mumbo so getting a Eurofighter wouldn't work...

B&M Wingrider?

I suppose this has been on the cards for a while. It's unpopular, is sitting on a potential plot of land and isn't exactly brand new. I just hope they replace it with something decent, because in my opinion it's the best coaster in the park at the moment.

Oh, and what's with the shock at a smaller park buying it? It's in pretty good condition, and would be a major ride for a smaller park. Older coasters than this are still being bought and sold. Hopefully the new park will appreciate it more than this dump.

The way I see it, it was due to be scrapped any time now anyway. They probably didn't get much for it, but anything is better than actually having to spend money on it to get it removed.

They get rid of a coaster that was on its way out, without having to pay the costs involved, they make a bit of money and they free up a nice chunck of land.

Perfect scenario as far as I can see.

So its definitely happening:

Awww, really? I actually rather liked Corkscrew. It was so much better than Alton's.

I'm glad it's going though because Flamingoland will build something fairly interesting in its place. That new something will hurt, probably more than Corkscrew, but it'll be new, interesting and probably well themed.

^ Could push that Woodie rumour that little bit further....

Even before that '3 Woodies for the UK' rumour appeard, it was always speculated that Mingo would get Wood to replace their Corky.

Joey's right, Flamingoland's Corkscrew was wonderfully smooth and tonnes better than Alton's. Sad to see it go tbh, one of the only decent coasters at the park. Maybe they'll get a launched x-car eurofighter mega-lite! ;)

So clearly this is going ahead then, regardless of what will replace it (I personally think it will be wood) I wonder when it will be rebuilt?

I'm wondering if they'll also relocate/remove the kiddie cred from that area to give them even more room to play with? As Gavin said, it would also make sense to expand out into the Coach Park if they can. That would give them loads of space to get something half decent.

Otherwise people will be there on the weekend expecting to ride it? [/defendingwebsitesthatdon'tupdateasregularlyastheyshould]

^I can imagine:

"Oh, did the executives take the Corkscrew away? Geez, nobody ever tells the Marketing department anything... Could you please tell our website guy? We never talk to him either"

^I really do hope that turns out to be the case. If they do extend into the car park they could fit something larger than a 'Big Fun' too. *Dreams of GCI/GG coaster at FL*

Maybe they'll remove the little 'Dragon Coaster' and build a new themed area.

Fair play son - they're the same pics posted on the previous page.

I do wonder why they've left it so late in the closed season to begin deconstruction though. It's blatantly going to be an empty void for the 2012 season which makes me HOPE they're going to spend some of 2012 developing that area for something massive in 2013. We can but hope Pierre.
