Cedar Point Test Paints Mantis

I dig the colours. I wish Mantis weren't a stand up coaster, but chances are it won't be converted so if nothing else, I'll take a new paint job!

It seems like just a repaint. Green, well, suits a coaster named after the bad :!: kung fu insect. The praying mantis is is usually green to camouflage with foliage.

BUT THE 90S COLOR SCHEME!!!!!

According to the wikipedia entry on Mantis, the last repaint of the ride was in 2003, 6 years after the ride opened. Those vibrant 90s blues and reds have faded over time, so it does make sense that mantis receive a fresh coat of paint (and in this case, a change of color).

Why the test patch? is that a standard thing? special paint? It would be interesting if it was thermochromic or glow in the dark.
