Butterflys Are Not Roller Coasters

So why do powered coasters count?

And what's stopping me sitting on a skateboard, going down a hill and then up another, and counting it?

Because, even though they are powered around, they can still go down and up a little on their own momentum. It's a fair argument though, strictly speaking they 'shouldn't' count, but they are a specific type of coaster.

And because that isn't a designed specific coaster/track/thing, otherwise turning your car engine off and going down Nic's road on momentum and up the next at the bottom would count as a cred.

As we discussed over diner at Cheesecake Factory, I agree with Ben. Butterflies are not coasters. The only reason I added them to my count was that they are on RCDB, but that's a pretty poor excuse since I've always felt they shouldn't be there.

I've been updating my count lately and taken off things that are considered borderline, including Nautic Jets...
In honor of Ben removing questionable credz from his count, I have done likewise and removed the four Butterflies I've ridden. I've never counted Alpine coasters (nor Nautic Jets :p ), so nothing to remove there.

OK, so if I build barriers that will guide me down the hill, can I count it?

My point is where do you draw the line? Why do people draw it so you can't have similar things but Butterflys are OK?

And yay Jerry, you're an honourable man.

Clones
Water Coasters
Alpine Coasters
Bobkarts

Are ALL Creds

Disk'Os
Log Flumes
Butterflies
Nautic Jets

Are NOT Creds.

That should be simple enough.

^It's not that simple when it comes to "water coasters".

These are water coasters and not credz:

^Yep. I already mentioned that Alpine coasters aren't credz and by the time I posted the water coaster videos I forgot to crucify him about bobkarts. WTAF?!

We all have different cred views. I consider those coasters. Bobkarts are like Bobsleds. Just slower, more terrain oriented, and less people per car. But we all have opinions, that's mine, yours are different.

Well yeah, that's kinda the point of this topic and is generally how discussions like this work.

I think anything can be a cred if you just believe .

Sorry for straying a bit off topic, but how many of you would count this as a coaster? It's on rcdb, but you can control your speed while riding, basically it's a suspended Bobkart from Wiegand.

People who count Butterflys are the worst kind of people...

It doesn't surprise me at all that Jordan would be under that heading... :fp1:

For the record, I haven't actually ridden one, but I wouldn't count them... In the same way that I wouldn't count that suspended contraption at Parc Saint Paul which is also on C-C...

Powered coasters aren't constantly powered around the course for the record (for the majority), so actually 'coast' a lot more than I think a lot of people realise... They're much more cred-like though in their actual design than a bloody Butterfly...

Also Fuga d'Atlantide is defo not a cred, otherwise we start on discussing if Hydro/Drenched is one again, and sod that starting once more...

Ben only started this topic because the people he's in competition with have butterfly's in their count, and he hasn't been in one. He's trying to force those with high butterfly counts to remove them so he can catch up/stay ahead. Remember, folks, leopards never change their spots. Ben's just being shady.

^What a well constructed argument, completely laying out the reasoning for you counting them in a well thought out, elaborate way. Well done! Nice to see you get the point of the topic ;)

If that was the case why would I have removed around 20 coasters in the last few days...?

^You didn't remove coasters; you removed multiple Nautic Jets, the Ghost train and Goldmine at PBB, the airtime hill on the way to Flamingo Land and the Mack Water coaster at Drayton.

None of those were ever coasters, and you and Jake were the only ones to count them anyway. Now you're going after other people's counts. Pathetic.

Unless I'm having a brain fart, surely in it's most purest form to be a rollercoaster it needs to have wheels and a track?

Would that not rule out most of these questionable ones?

Mate, get your facts right, only one of those things was on my count.

If you're going to come after me, please ensure you're at least correct when you do.

I'm still waiting for your reasoned argument and constructive contribution to the topic that goes above bitching.

^You won't allow me to give my reason as it's 'your topic' and you won't allow the Coaster-Count discussion. Therefore, until you allow people to comment without restrictions I'm not going too, am I?

The discussion is about whether or not Butterflies are coasters. Saying they are on Coaster Count is not an argument. The fact that they are listed on a website doesn't prove any point about them being coasters.
