Blackpool Pleasure Beach | Icon | Mack Multi-Launch

So according to an onsite engineer, Icon will actually reach a top speed of 85kph at the end of the second launch. The current 80kph statistic is the minimum speed needed to crest the (sort of) Immelmann to prevent a rollback.

He actually said 85km/h is the 'maximum speed on launch 2'. Not sure if this means it will reach that though?...
Anyone know more about this? I haven't heard of launched coasters varying between speeds tbh.

I'm pretty sure LSMs are adjustable depending on weather conditions etc, so yeah 85km/h is probably just the maximum it will go when the conditions mean it's more likely to valley.

Nick Thompson has seen too many Carlsberg adverts, “this is probably the best rollercoaster in the world”.

Any movement on the station? Surprised there hasn't been a proper update for the last week, kind of expected to see trains or exterior work!

I'd expect to see something at the weekend, timed to coincide with the WOW WEEKENDS. I think they were pushing out quite a few updates over the winter was because the public weren't in the park, now they might as well let the public take and share pictures.

Some great shots of Icon from Theme Park Updates on Facebook:-

The supports on that turn are complete, meaning the ride structure is officially 100% complete:-

I don't think this Mack engineer is pissing all over Icon:-

I'm slightly confused on how the transfer track is meant to work:-

The sexy first launch:-

This definitely looks to be worthy enough to be a top 10 coaster.

If I told you that's not the transfer track, and simply the steelwork supporting the station floor (with lockers behind), would that help? ;)

Ah, so that whole gubbins is on a track system out of view? The steelwork in that picture isn't part of the rail system, is really what I meant.

Didn't realise the whole platform moved, that's nifty.

Yeah it's all attached to the sliding mechanism. It's very nifty and reminds me a lot of how the classic wooden coaster transfer tracks work.

I know, it will be really good ride but top 10 rollercaster in the world is an exaggeration. Not when there are such rides in the world as shambala, expedition geforce and some 25 more, which are definitely better than this. Take a bit of objectivity guys and sorry for my english :)
