I was just wondering if anybody knows what is the largest theme park in the world in terms of the size of the area it takes up. I really have know idea what it is, but theme parks like sfmm, port aventura and Europa park seem to take ages to walk round, not to mention Alton towers where the sky ride is really neccersery to take you around the park as the rides are so fairly spread out because of the gardens.

Disney World?

It can't be since Disney World isn't a park. However you can fit all three of the other parks at the complex inside Animal Kingdom

when it comes to size whether its square footage or attendance, disney parks normally take up the whole top five

"Theme" Park: Disney
"Amusement" Park: King's Island is 365 acres...but they own 712 acres. So if you're just talking about actual space of the park I would say King's Island is probably the largest in terms of space..

Cedar Point is also the same acreage as KI, both at 364. They are of course smaller than Animal Kingdom. In terms of attendance, it's Magic Kingdom with 17.1 million guests in 2011.

Both Alton Towers and Efteling are damn big parks, by area size. Animal Kingdom doesn't feel that big when you're there though, probably because most of it is the jeep ride.

^ Though they do claim that you can fit the Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Epoct inside the Animal Kingdom, with enough room left over for a suitable car park.

Great Adventure was originally meant to be the Disney World of the North but Warner Leroy didn't have the budget. Hope that provides more insight as to why Great Adventure is 2200 acres.

Seriously how did I miss this thread .-.

UC & danmar0498 are correct. Six Flags Great Adventure is the largest, now that they will be claiming the safari park to be a ride and part of the amusement park itself.
