Apparently this is opening on April 25th. Official name is Tempesto.

Ummm......yeah

(Kind-of)Testing! First 2 launches though...

And it appears that they're using 3 cars per train.

Re: BGW | Tempesto? | Premier Rides Launch Coaster

I like the three car train, it looks better and will help capacity a bit.

Those colors scream RCT, it's kind of awesome.

Re: BGW | Tempesto? | Premier Rides Launch Coaster

BGW's PR call them "comfort straps" and they were added due to the sky roll. According to them they are pretty much redundant but by the looks of things they'll get in your way while riding. Capacity will be mid-high 600 riders per hour (Theoretical max 720) and in order to cover that as best as possible BGW will have 4 people checking the train as often as possible. What a little mess this ride is, actually the entire park is a mess.

Re: BGW | Tempesto? | Premier Rides Launch Coaster

I kind of feel OTSRs really negate the point of a ride like this.

Looks really poo, really bad choice for such a good park.

The park released a testing POV today:

Love the way they mounted the camera to the OTSRs so that you can see the water dummies. :p

Wow, what a snooze fest! I know everyone has said it already, but what the heck were they thinking? Surely with their gazillion dollar entrance fee, they could have afforded something a little bit better and more practical!

Re: Holiday World | Thunderbird | Launched B&M Wing Coaster

I drove from Holiday World to Busch Gardens Williamsburg overnight and somehow managed to get in four hours sleep before getting to the park in time for Tempesto's media event.

Unlike the Thunderbird event the previous day, all I was allowed to film was off-ride and the on-ride videos were provided by the park.

I managed to get in two rides during the short event, one in the first car and one in the second. I don't think it really matters where you sit on these Sky Rocket II coasters, other than the front for the view.

Both rides didn't really feel much different than my rides on Superman at SFDK or Sky Scream at Holiday Park, although it seemed slightly slower (probably because of the extra car). Then there's the "comfort collars", which are very loose and don't bother me, but I'd prefer if they weren't there because they're burdenous while entering and exiting your seat. But if it makes the GP feel more comfortable riding the coaster, then I certainly understand why the park went this route.

Although they're not very re-ridable, I do prefer these Premier Rides ones over similar small footprint coasters like SkyLoops or Boomerangs. All three have capacity issues, but there's a little more to these than their Maurer Söhne counterparts and their much smoother than the Vekomas.

These are the photos I posted on Facebook and Twitter, but I'll post the videos of the event tomorrow.

If the SkyLoops had more to their design (like Abysmo), would those be better than the Premiers?

Abismo is better than the stock models, but I still prefer these Sky Rockets.

Here are the videos as promised.

The official POV was given to me by the park, but I'll be returning to BGW soon to film my own POV.

The reverse ridercam POV was also filmed by the park.

Like Fury 325, I filmed the off-ride footage at 60fps with my new camcorder.

Here's my interview with BGW Park President Carl Lum.

I also met a guy who was filming with a 360° camera. Here's the video he filmed. You have to use the latest version of Google Chrome on your laptop/desktop or the latest version of Android on your smart phone to view it properly. Make sure to use the arrow keys to get the perspective that you want if you are watching the video on a laptop or desktop computer.
