Best Spinning Coaster

Tornado is INSANE. You never see the launch coming and it pulls some extreme Gs with those turns. It's the only coaster I think I've ever blacked out on.

So that's why it gets my vote. :P

The one at Waldameers was effin insane due to my fatness on one side and my friends son and his friend on the other (they barely made 200lbs together).

The spinning on that singular ride <3

Been on Exterminator (used to be fab, now utter turd and squeels/moans due to something not allowing it to freely spin or something) and a travelling one.

My lack of this glorified Spin-n-Spew saddens me

Hate to hear that. The kid & I always had so much fun riding that thing, but haven't ridden it since the Live in 2010. It used to spin so much that the first time Aidan went on it in 2008, he was bouncing off the walls at the ride exit.

I know it's personal preference, but I hate when people judge a coaster as good or not based on whether they got a good spin. Yeah, the spinning on a spinning coaster is important, but people need to remember they're on a coaster, not a waltzer. Getting a good spin on a crappy Reverchon mouse doesn't make it any less of a crap coaster.

I think my favourite is actually Comet Express at Lotte World. It doesn't tend to spin a ridiculous amount (though it can nearer the back of the train and if it's unevenly weighted), so if you're judging it based on that, you might not like it. It's just a really long, fun, excellently-themed coaster. It's just a huge surprise the first time around as it's entirely underground and you don't realise from the tiny entrance what a "big" ride it actually is.

I never used to rate Sonic Spinball, but the last few times I've ridden it it's really grown on me and I think I prefer it to Dragon's Fury now to be honest.

I enjoyed Tornado at Bakken, apart from the neck chopping. I don't think Intamin have sold another of that type since since, have they? I've got no idea of cost and reliability, but that seems a bit off to me.

Winjas was excellent, but again if you rate these coasters based on their spin, you might not think so.

I can't think of any other standouts to be honest. The thing at Europa was really forceful for a spinner, but it made me feel ill, so I won't say I enjoyed it.

The Golden Horse spinners are ok, as are the models they're ripped off from, but once you've done one, you've done them all. They're just very bland really.

The Reverchon things are s**te. No more to be said on that.

The worst one I've ever done though, apart from some kiddy spinners which don't count, is Spin Bullet at Sega Joypolis (thankfully now gone), which managed to be bland, boring and forceless, yet extremely painful at the same time.

It was the year or so after the new company took over. 08-09 were the amazing rides of pure vomitting (our friend actually got off and RAN to the bathroom), 2010 is when I noticed the sound (car 5). When I went again in 2011, we STACKED the train to spin (car 8, the one a few years prior spun like crazy) and was resulted with the noise and barely any spin at all. I havent been back since so I couldnt tell you if this continued or not.

Ugh, they might have killed a decent spinner.

Whirlwind at Seabreeze. So much spinning. My larger friends wanted to sit together so it was 350 pounds on one side and 130 pounds on the the other side.

I think for the rides where you sit facing in, you're right. With you being on the outside of the carriage, you get much more a Waltzer ride from it. So if you like Waltzers, then that's what you're getting.

The MS spinners though where you face outwards, you're more over the central spindle, so you get much odder forces on your body as it spins. For example, if you're spinning around going up the Immelmann of Dragon's Fury and end up on the outside as it hits the top, the spinning force with the change of direction gives a very intense ride (I think that's the most extreme example, but you get it spinning into the helices on Sonic Spinball too). So I find that the spinning on those (okay, I've been on three) makes a huge difference to the ride. Though as I say, I find Sonic Spinball an "okay" coaster without the spin anyway.

I think generally I'd prefer to go on a Waltzer than a Reverchon given the option :)

The capacity is pretty crap and I've heard it's not 100% reliable (not that I've ever seen it broken down the times I went).

Maybe because it's vile? I thought it was incredibly painful, especially the jerk in the track after the launch, but overall the abundance of neck chopping (which I rarely get on coasters) was very unpleasant!

The same goes for all of my friends that has been to Bakken. All of them hate that ride! They give it max one go per visit. So it's pretty safe to say that it's not very popular among the genreal public! At least not in my circle of friends. And I live ~1h from the park so I've talked to at least 20 persons who've ridden it and none of them have liked it.
