Alton Towers | Toxicator | Huss Top Spin | 2025

3 weeks seems like a tight target to get all the theming in place, but they must know what they're doing.

Are we moving away from details and intricacies in design, and instead moving towards bland colour blocking? What story are they trying to convey? Is the green supposed to represent acid?

I'm struggling to fit it into the overall phalanx and alien story of the valley as well. Is it the alien that's trying to toxicate you? If so, why is it green and so far departed from the colour identity of Nemesis?
Is it the phalanx? Why would they want/need to toxicate people?

The Phalanx/Nemesis story has never exactly been clear in my opinion. They got away with it in the 90s as people didn't care *that* much, and it was just a singular ride.

Now, they've added so many layers with Sub Terra, Nemesis Reborn, Compound scare maze, fireworks show and now this. Are the Phalanx good guys trying to protect against aliens? Are they bad guys trying to harness the power of aliens? Did they bring Nemesis to earth? Do they like the public, or loathe them? Why are they so shouty?

As for the aesthetic of Toxicator... it's a simple, harsh look. I imagine that's the point, because it's a military-related thing which (after a quick Google) is apparently separating acidic drool from the Nemesis Creature. And that's fine in its own right. The issue comes for me in that it means we've got 2 themes of the park which are government agencies doing stuff.

Do we know what theming we can reasonably expect? I was hoping for some acid tanks and pumps, at the very least.

Still, I'm pleased to see Alton getting a decent flat ride on the lineup again.

TPW pointed out what look like video screen panels covering the tanks so i'd assume so kind of acid effect

The plans listed the pools and support towers as theming elements, and whilst the official video seems to be careful not to show the two towers, the drone flyovers suggest that they are indeed already themed as tanks, with pipework.

I think that's the sun shining on them, could be wrong, but I haven't seen anything to convince me that I am yet. I do see pipework etc though, they seem to be themed as tanks, so it wouldn't be a bad idea.

EDIT: My apologies, just seen what Shawn is referring to (Just watched his video from today) does look like video screens to be fair, but weirdly placed, just at the top and covered in physical pipes. 🤷‍♂️

Nottingham Evening Post "Guests will be able to walk under the ride whilst it is in operation, something which Alton Towers says is a World's First" 🙈 😂

Also... Anybody seen the screens in operation or testing yet? Looks like there's a lot more of them than I first thought.

It is no surprise it looks good in that photo. Merlin are exceptional at creating brilliant marketing images and having good lighting packages installed for them.

The real test is what it looks like during the day (ie when it operates 95% of the time) and how it'll look in the dark next year

Actually looks really good, much better than Ripsaw which I didn’t think would be the case.

The restraints are apparently completely different than even on Talocan and way less restrictive, which sounds great as I hate the tight restraints on topspins.

Really think they should have kept The Blade just for one more season though as looking at that empty pit on ride is pretty sad, hope they don’t leave that area empty for too long.

Whoops... Toxicator indeed!!!

There's a video too of it coming up from the drains in the tunnel... Looks like actual sewerage!!! (Can't post videos on here.)

They're evacuating Forbidden Valley apparently. 🤷‍♂️ Though I've not seen evidence of that.

Editing to add puns... Because, I'm bored, and why not...

  • Well, the new ride at Tower is s#!t
  • That's a few million quid down the drain
  • Toxicator's theming really stinks
  • Code brown!
  • Not what I meant when I said it needed a 'Splash Zone' John!!!!
  • And the award for most immersive new ride experience 2025 goes to.... Alton Towers.

    (I'll add them as I think of them. 🙈 😂 )
Editing again to add: On a bit more of a serious note, I've just heard there was very nearly a crush / pileup at the stairs. Paul says that as they were evacuating the queue line, they were trying to send those evacuated through the tunnel not knowing how bad it was, and of course people wouldn't go through it, which was beginning to cause issues on the stairs. :/
