On tuesday 4th may, I embarked on my quest, to overcome the tyranny and branch grasping-ness that is th13teen.
I arrived to a fairly packed queue to get into the resort's theme park. Upon getting in I was to realise many would not be eligable to get past the workers at the end of towers street for ERT. Annual pass to the rescue for me.
I decided to hit up Oblivion first, great ride as always but this time not my favourite or second favourite moment of the day, we'll come to those later. After going the traditional, arms and legs up on the drop, i was ready to continue onto the next ride of ERT. Next I went for what seemed like a long walk but wasn't too long it seemed as through haunted hollow I took about 10 minutes to get to Nemesis.
Sidenote for NEAL :--D where were the marker pen clues on the back of the busty gravestone my friend
Back to the report, I arrived at nemesis, as lazy as I am i decided to try and hit up the single rider queue. "sorry, this queue doesnt open until 10", so I had to walk all the way round a personless queue. What a windup lol
I decided to queue for the front for a change as I was alone on this ride and only two people were queueing for the front. Again arms raised throughout the duration of the ride. (except the lift hill, how silly would that be) although you get bashed about more with arms up, am I the only one who thinks on rides like oblivion, and nemesis other parks coasters etc, your stomach doesnt get any sinking feeling in it if you dont hold on to the restraints but it does when you do hold on? Does for me anyway.
Moving on, I decided to walk across the lovely, yet glamourous...yet painfully hilly walk across the gardens, to ugla- i mean the dark forest.
For the interest of enthusiasts, if you go into the towers, I sometimes do for photos etc. the signs leading you out of the towers, on two to three of them still signpost ugland, but alas, you'll never find ugland now. muhahahaha!
Interlude over, I decided to start queuing for th13teen before the line opened. No queue, perfect but the basterd was broken down wasn't it? So i waited for about 30 mins before someone politely asked anyone waiting to leave so they wouldnt waste their day.
With that i left and headed up to duel to play the best score of my life to date. I kid you now, 72,900 (the ride did breakdown during the ride at which point i was under the giant spider so kept shooting the yellow lights for mucho grande pointos!
Smug as a bug, in a well and tightly rapped rug, I headed back over to th13teen, guess what, the basterd was only gone and open wasn't it lolz
I decided to single rider as the queue had already got to 100 minutes. 10 minutes later I was on the ride, most of the single riders get to sit together anyway, so chances are if you did it with friends you'd get on together or within one or two trains of each other. I got on just as the normal queue were asked "how many?" - "six" - and the ride op let 5 of the singles through as there were only five spaces. Genius.
So what do i think about th13teen, i doubt anyone cares as there are a lot of opinions going about at the moment. I personally think it's really good and reminded me of SAW on the indoor section as theres attention to detail and a decent semi-scare if you end up waiting in there long enough. It's slow going around but the crypt is worth the 10 minute wait
After two goes on the single rider queue for th13teen I decided that the shop for th13teen looked an awful lot like the container shop used as the SAW shop at thorpe park. Coincidence or not?
My day got a little more uneventful after this as I hit up lunch at BK, (With a rocky road BK infusion! yum yum) or as the ride ops at RMT say, "choo choo"
I then decided to walk through and spend some time in the towers getting some great photos from a part of the roof that was closed during my visit in february half term. (Apologies for not uploading them in time for this report.)
After about 30 or so minutes in the towers, starting from the flume i made the long slog of just hitting up most of the main rides i'd come across moving towards forbidden valley. Rapids, RMT, Duel, Nemey, Air etc. Have to say air...just isn't great anymore, it really isnt.
I do commend nemesis though on still having a fairly well hidden single rider queue for me to make full use of
In short I finished the day with a go on ripsaw and then a couple more rides on th13teen before hitting up my room at cariba creek splash landings hotel for the evening, all in all a good first day of my trip, and th13teen is actually pretty good.
