Alton Towers Scarefest 2013

Lock this if it exists but I did a search and couldn't find anything.

So apparently Scarefest 2013 looks to be much of the same. Apparently Carnival of Screams has a new storyline for this year but The Sanctuary, Terror of the Towers and Zombies! are all going to be the same as last year. Which makes me happy because it was all pretty awesome, yay!

As always, you have to pay for The Sanctuary and Terror of the Towers.

I must admit I am surprised they kept Carnival, I loved it last year, but from what I hear it has hardly changed over the years. It is nice though that they are adding a story this year, that should hopefully up the fear factor of the maze! So glad though The Sanctuary is returning, it was by far the best maze!

ToTT is and has always been the best maze at Alton each year for many years in my opinion. I'll always happily pay for it as opposed to the shorter and slightly disappointing other mazes.

Paying for an attraction that has only extremely slightly (or not at all) changed from the year before when it was free is NOT the best of things...

Yeah I did ToT once last year, and whilst I was impressed it seemed rather samey, spare a few rooms. After one go I felt it was tired. God knows how I will feel this year!

I am quite disappointed by the lineup to be honest, it just doesn't appear to be any different to what they've done in the last few years which has given me no motivation to visit during Scarefest at all.

I think a revamp of the mazes including ToTT is required, along with a PortAventura style show somewhere to fit in with the Halloween season.

There is so much wasted potential at Towers in my opinion as far as halloween goes.

Yeah, I've felt Alton's Scarefests have been a bit flat. The best I remember was 2010. I just hope they haven't got those bloody flood lights out again, the park was brighter at night than it was during the day. The only reason I'm going to Scarefest is for night-time Smiler riding. I think the mazes need a new lease of life, and perhaps give Scarefest more of a theme, like Thorpe did with their prison theme last year and the movie theme this year.

I have a standard Merlin Pass, can I still get into the park during these times? I'm really not that fussed about the scare attractions, plus It will cost me to get into them. I was just wondering If I still have access to the park?

Yeah, there's no restrictions on visiting Alton's Scarefest with a standard pass. Just show up on the day as usual.

Went to Scarefest on Monday - the scare attractions were the strongest they've been in years. Had a fantastic time.

Yeah I went yesterday and it was fantastic! I did all of the mazes multiple times and I can honestly say I really was impressed by all of them! I will post up a full non spoiler review and walkthrough later in the trip report section, enjoy it everyone going on the live tomorrow, i'll be thinking of you as I head off to Thorpe!
