Alton Towers Exploration - 22nd & 23rd December

The forums are quiet at this time of the year, where everyone is waiting for the new year to be upon us. So, I bring a small trip report of the Santas Sleepover event at the Alton Towers Resort.
The day began bright and early at 8am, where I picked up my friends joining me. We conquered snow and ice and finally made it on to the M1. The car journeys involved radio karaoke times & sleep. Arriving in Alton Towers at 12ish, we had plenty of the day left for exploration.

After a queue at the Splash Landings to check in, our rooms were already ready, so, we dumped our bags and toured the hotels.

Food/Lunch times in Flambo's are good...

Darren must also sit in the freakishly large chair to complete any resort tour...

Time for the park and extra exploration shots...
So, the park tour started off as normal.

Life at the park carried on as normal, with some slightly scary photos...

Then Darren had to ruin all the fun, with 'Thirteen' fanboyism :evil:

Whilst I was getting over-excited over some posters, we somehow ended up to what appears to be...

Holy Christ! We ended up in Narnia!

Whilst in Narnia (in which I don't know if we were allowed in as there were no gates to stop us), we toured the towers...

Strange animals also inhabit Narnia...

On the way back to Mutiny Bay, Darren spotted another one of his odd obsessions... A Bose Speaker :?

It was time to leave the park, but Darren noticed something on the way whilst on *The monorail is not in operation due to slightly cold weather (where have we heard this before)* Shuttle Bus...

After Corkscrew times, it was back to the hotel for waterpark times and Darren's birthday celebrations over Flambo's huge Christmas Buffet...

More park times the next day and then it was the magical journey home...

At least the reindeer had a good time :--D

Very nice photos there Darren, thanks for posting. The towers look lovely in the snow, and also the corky photos were great too. My favourite has to be the iced up fountain outside the Alton towers hotel though. Magic.

Can you see much of Thirteen from the towers roof? How close can you get?

The report did end up a bit too much in the 2nd person, we'll try a bit less of that next time! cool)

You can see next to nothing of Thirteen from the roof of the towers. I looked as hard as possible to find the slightest view but there are just too many trees. The closest you should be able to get to Thirteen is Spinball Whizzer but the gates/barriers were open for some reason. We got pretty much up to where Rita's Chicken and Ribs were before we got weird looks from the workers on the site. We turned round and found an unclosed entrance to the towers through the tunnel in the X-Sector. Other people followed us up towards Thirteen but got approached by security whilst we sort of hid.

On another note. Whilst up near the site of Thirteen, I could hear music coming from the area. Not too sure what it was but I wasn't close enough to hear it properly however, it could have been anything.

Nice TR Darren, I myself can't justify going up to AT without riding any coasters but there you go.

Me neither,it's like going into a pub,and only drinking water.
