Alton Towers: Dine All Day

If it was like, £15, and I had an AP, and it was Scarefest, then maybe.

But, as a non AP holder, £22.50 just doubles the cost of the day.

I don't mind going to a buffet, pigging out and going home, but there's only so much you can eat. Who wants to feel really stuffed at a theme park? Vom. You'd spend the whole day trying to get your money's worth and then just feel disgusting.

It's not a bad idea, but the price is far too high.

Edit - I'd do it if it includes alcohol in the Courtyard Tavern... doubt that somehow ;).

But in the scenario I suggest, there's no way they could realistically prevent you giving food to someone else is there?

You could have lunch they can have dinner so yeah you could split the bill and not eat when your mates do.

But you would not be able to get lunch or dinner if they do without paying so not sure how you would be better off?

I eat at most £10 worth of food from the supermarket for a meal, and that is spread out over a long time. Surely you're better off stopping at a supermarket before going to the Park and buying food there and take it into the part for omnoms.

Maybe that's just me that adores Tesco's Chicken Caeser Wraps and the infinite possibilities of food to buy.

I never spend more then £10 on food and drink in parks, so there`s no way I would part with that sort of money, One meal at a Theme Park does me fine, 99% of the time.

It sounds like a really great deal, but who in reality goes to a theme park and eats all day? The most I spend on food is about £5.00 - if that.

But surely this is aimed at families. You can buy sweets for the kids, do lunch and then sit and have a coffee while the kids do the rides.

I can easily spend that much on food when out for the day, but not in a park where time eating means less time riding. I never spend more than say ten to fifteen at the absolute most, normally five to ten

I originally thought this was aimed at families, but I see that each individual is required to spend that amount of money on food.

Nowt for free!

When I go to the Towers I usually get some donuts about an hour or so after being in the park, pizza&pasta buffet and maybe a sausage roll/pasty from the awesome pirate pasty shop. And maybe a drink of some sort. I don't think that comes to £22.50? Especially with AP discount?

Nah, not for me.

I think an expensive day for us at Alton is about £50 if we're buying food on park. So there's no way that could work out cheaper.

However, it's really aimed at people doing the "one trip a year at most" thing. Suddenly having all you can eat and some drinks all day (so you can grab both lunch and dinner) may be appealing. There are people who think that the whole "consumable treat" thing is a massive part of a theme park trip.

I'm not entirely sure though that anyone could spend £22 on food and drink during a day though? Maybe they're putting prices up by 50% this season and it's a much better deal than we think? ;)

I also agree with what somebody said on the previous page, you'd end up being conscious of having to get your money's worth, and then you find yourself stopping at every food place you can, gorging and then wasting time NOT being on rides, which is pretty much WHY you're at the bloody place in the first place?

I thought the same thing about the refillable drinks thingies. I've bought one once, on a hot summer's day, and we spent so much bloody time queuing to get the stupid thing refilled, or looking for somewhere to get it refilled, to try and get our money's worth, we ended up queueing longer for drinks all day than we did for rides, which is ridiculous!

Again, it's how you view your day.

I went with two friends and their families a couple of years ago. They spent most of the day waiting for food, coffee or playing on the game-stalls. One friend spent almost £200 on the day after entry for him, his wife and two kids. I didn't mind missing rides, but it was one of the lowest ride count days I've had in five years (it wasn't busy either).

They had an absolutely fantastic day out though because it's the "theme park experience" not just the rides.

Madame_Furie's family are the same too. They spend all day in shops and eateries and don't care about the rides (I just think, why not go to the Trafford centre or something?)

I guess it's these people it's aimed at?

All Day Dining is just £12.95 per child and £22.50 per adult! Act fast, book online now as there is limited availability per day!

is that "limited" to the number they can sell then?

Furie that's what I think as well about them putting up their prices.

Since Disney started doing the dining plan and kids eat free the prices went up. In 3 years they gained $3 on a burger meal.

I still won't spend £22 on food though lol

I think what Tom is saying, is that you can go buy some food, go give that food to your friends, then go back and get some for yourself.

If there's 3 or 4 of you, then £22.50 is good value ;)

But you cannot do that.

You get one breakfast.
One lunch
One dinner
Snack/drink etc

Parks in the USA do this including Merlin run parks, they give you a card and it get stamped or has tags removed.

There is no way you can cheat the system, Merlin are not silly.

I don't know why they use the word unlimited as it is limited. We looked at the one in BGA and said its not worth it.

^ No thats to do with the voucher you can buy for £15, thats a different thing. I got confused with that at first.

They also have food vouchers as well.

Adult GOLD package:
One hot drink

One soft drinks capsule (refillable)

One main meal (Includes Wood Cuttters and Pizza Pasta)

One sweet treat

20% off retail voucher

Extraordinary Golf voucher
£17

So you can get that for £17, or unlimited food and drink for £22.50.

I still highly doubt there isn't some form of restriction.

Or else you could spend the day ordering food and just chucking it. That'd be fab actually, spite Africa <3
