What's new

2009 Credits

I got 15 credits this year which was pretty good and roughly the same as I've done for the past few years.

The best coaster I've been on this year was without doubt Blue Fire - fantastic in every way and now it's equal first with Superman Escape on my top 5 list.

I got 57 new credits this year. It didn't beat last year's 63, but that was just picking up a ton of local credits. This year I traveled, making it a better year than last year.

I got:

- Ghostrider - Knott's Berry Farm
- Giant Dipper - Belmont Park
- Screamin' Demon - Castle Amusement Park
- X2 - Six Flags Magic Mountain
- Superman The Escape Left Side - Six Flags Magic Mountain
- Terminator Salvation The Ride - Six Flags Magic Mountain
- All 18 credits at Cedar Point
- 5/6 credits at Kennywood, skipped Exterminator due to spinning
- 14/15 credits at Kings Island, SOB closed
- Pepsi Python - Coney Island
- All 6 credits at SFKK, well besides Twisted Twins
- All 4 credits at Holiday World
- Tony Hawk's Big Spin - Six Flags Discovery Kingdom
- Incredible Express - John's Incredible Pizza Company
- Tiger Mike - Boomers

My Top 10 at the end of 2008 was something like this:

1. Tatsu
2. V2 Vertical Velocity
3. Xcelerator
4. Goliath
5. Riddler's Revenge
6. Speed The Ride
7. Silver Bullet
8. Medusa
9. Viper
10. Wicked

My current Top 10 is in my sig. A lot has changed. :p

I had 26 brand new credits this year, with everything minus 1 at both Six Flags Great America (blue side of American Eagle) and King's Island (Little Bill's Giggle Coaster...it's a given).

Biggest surprise was most likely Whizzer at SFGAm. It looks pretty dull and boring, but actually is quite fun and forceful. And with it's very open cars and low to the ground curves, it seems faster then it is.

Biggest disappointment would be Vortex and Son of Beast. Both looked good and fun, but both sucked big time, mostly Vortex with it's massive headache hangover.

Diamondback and Beast worked into my top ten, at 3 and 6 respectively.

I'd say with 2008 being only 13 new credits, 2009 was a definitely a better year.

72.
Paulton's Park, Saw, then all of those on the West Coast USA...

And none of those 72 coasters came anywhere near to beating Boulder Dash off my number 1 spot.

This year was pretty big for me. I rode 48 new coasters:

Parque De Atracciones
Tibidabo
Parc Asterix
Diamondback
Busch Gardens Europe
King's Dominion
Six Flags America
Six Flags Great Adventure

I did get on a few new coasters for 2009 as well:

Muntanya Russa
Diamondback
Grover's Alpine Express

The biggest surprises were:

Apollo's Chariot: From what I heard, it sounded hit and miss, but for me, it was a hit with great airtime and an awesome ground hugging layout.

Alpengeist: I thought it would be good, but not THIS good.

Goudurix: Everybody said this ride was ****, but to be honest, it was a pretty good ride.

To be honest, I really didn't have any disappointments, but if I had to pick one, it would be Shivering Timbers not living up to what I remember it being.

My top 10 changed quite a bit this year. Five new coasters found their way into my top 10 and ending at #1, #3, #4, #7, and #10.

This season was definitely better than last year. I rode almost twice as many coasters this summer as I did last, so that's great for me.

31 new creds this year!

Caterpillar, Lightwater Valley

The Ultimate was fun, but painful, and is somewhere in my top 10 - high end.

Rage was also very good, and is in the low end of my top 10.

But I am most proud of my Go Gator cred <3 Oh the persuasion...

I got 186 new credits this year. I was hoping to break the 200 mark, which easily would have put my cc over 400. It still beats out the 150 new credits from 2008.
A few made my Top 10: Voyage, Colossos, Goliath (WW), Diamondback & Blue Fire. A few more got into my Top 20: X2 (#11), Tatsu (#15) & Expedition GeForce (#19). Other standouts were: Cornball Express (biggest surprise), HRRR, Manta, El Toro (Plohn), Deja Vu, California Screamin', Beast (at night <3), Fluch von Novgorod, Black Mamba, Piraten, Mystery Mine, Thunderhead & Rutschebanen (Tivoli Gardens - another surprise). I also finally got to ride all the big traveling coasters: Olympia Looping, Alpina Bahn, Hollenblitz & Teststrecke.
However I did have few disappointments with missing out on ring°racer (broke down two days before I arrived) & Prowler (had to return to work sooner than planned). Then there was Shivering Timbers - no where near as good as people say it is.

2009 was a bit quieter for me compared to 2008 but most of the parks I did were new so I got a lot of new credits. I ended up with roughly around 100 new credits including travelling coasters.

My highlights of the year were Anubis at Plopsaland, Särkänniemi Amusement Park in Finland which was awesome, Skyline Park in Munich and the Oktoberfest. Also finally getting to do the nautic jets at Wicksteed and Skyline was another highlight.

The lowpoints were Saw at Thorpe Park which was a big disappointment, Mumbo Jumbo at Flamingoland which again was another big disappointment not helped by the huge queues and the New Pleasureland Southport which I never want to set foot into ever again.

2009 was a quiet one for me.

I only got new coasters in the Denmark trip plus Saw and Mumbo. Poultons Park as well so I think I got about 50 rather than 120 odd I got in 2008.

Only Colossos made my top 10.

I got a total of 34 new credits during 2009, taking my total to 169. With the exception of Mumbo Jumbo, all of those credits were from the Euro Live in Germany and Denmark. I missed out on Limit at Heide Park, but that's no big deal, as I expect to be going back there in the next couple of years.

Colossos and Piraten both made my top 10 (positions 3 and 8 respectively) whilst Desert Race takes up position 7 alongside Rita.

I didn't bother with Thorpe at all in 2009, hence Saw's absence from the list. There was no way I was going anywhere near the place in the first half of the season, and once the park managed to get their act together later in the season, I just couldn't be bothered with all the hassle and expense of trekking all the way down there. Maybe next season.

I feel a bit feeble posting my new for 2009 credit count, which is 1.

Mumbo Jumbo.

Hopefully I can get on this Eurolive next year though, which will give me a lot more for next year's count.

Measly 53 or something added to my count this year. There are some missing like saw though on my profile - it needs updating but I'm too lazy. Still can't complain, I think half of my top ten at least comes from that list :)

Coaster-wise it's been a bad year but I got to travel allot more than previous years so I'm happy. I went back to Alton for a few days back in June so gained no new credits there. Then I gained 8 credits from Six Flags Great America, missed out on a few due to bad weather and very low crowds,

So only got 8 new credits and 1 new park credit last year compared to 19 new credits and 3 new parks in 2008.
