Really looking forward to riding the Smiler when I get back home. Guessing I'll probably like it as I'm into inversions and haven't found any Gerstlauers rough at all yet (people seriously think Saw is rough?).
Re: Alton Towers | The Smiler | Unknown Gerstlauer World's 1
I don't really think it's fair to say it looks crap because it's inversion after inversion. If so, you'd have to think the majority of B&M multi-loopers are crap because they are inversion after inversion...
I'd totally missed this ride being built until I saw a POV today but it looks like a really great coaster. The double launch looks cool and the hills and turns look extremely fun.
Yes but as others have previously argued it's because of where you live. Hardly anyone I know will have heard of Saw: The Ride - only a couple of my friends who like coasters. It's definitely not extremely well known.
This whole topic reminds of the time I was trying to argue to a stubborn old...
I guess I was a bit late jumping on the coaster bandwagon. As a child, I was terrified of them and refused to go to Alton Towers. Then I went on a school trip to Paris at the age of 12, and with a bit of peer pressure and not really thinking what I was doing, I went on Trace du Hourra which I...
This is all relative though and the parks on offer in California are still some of the best out there. Magic Mountain disappointed me because I expected so much, but it's still better than quite a few other parks I've been to. Personally I quite like Knott's, it lacks a bit of atmosphere, but...
^"The very last word in amusement devices" - doesn't look like the industry has changed much with parks making all the claims they want. I doubt they'd have the honesty these days though to put a sign up saying "Re-modeled not as rough as last season".
People say they're disappointed with Dorney but it seems just like my kind of park; not too big but still a good coaster line-up. I haven't been yet though so we'll see. I kind of think this is the reason I didn't like SFMM that much. The park was just too packed and operations were very slow...
I didn't think Grizzly at CGA was too bad. I didn't love it, but I don't think it deserves to come bottom of Mitch Hawker. One thing I do like that I don't hear much about is Pony Express at Knott's.
