Double post but my 2 cents:
The barriers to enter the industry are so high and the market is so saturated I wouldn't be surprised if we continue to go decades before new parks open. Excluding Hard Rock Park (which lasted 2 years all told?) the last major expansion was in the late 90's with...
San Diego? They have a SeaWorld and the Zoo, plus Disney is 90 minutes up the road.
I would put Nashville, TN on that list before the last 4 (well, maybe New Orleans would be tied with Nashville but even they have to compete with the Houston market).
EDIT: I know Jacksonville has a "huge"...
I will try to break it down by type, forgive me if I mix up the 4 kiddy coasters MM has:
Apocalypse < El Toro
Batman = Batman
Canyon Blaster = Road Runner
Colossus > Rolling Thunder
Full Throttle > N/A
Gold Rusher > Mine Train
Goliath < Nitro
Green Lantern > N/A
Magic Flyer = N/A
Ninja > N/A...
^^Lets say 30 kids are killed in school shootings a year (its probably more like 5 but I will humor you).
There are 74 million kids in the US age 0-17. The odds of my 9 month old getting shot are 4.05405E-07%. So yeah, if I send my kid to public school I wont worry about his head being blown off.
^How can there be large pieces of plane but an attempted landing? If the wreckage covers 9 miles it broke apart high up, probably when the missile tore thru it.
I am not sure how a plane can burn (you know metal and stuff), but the bodies not have scratches.
Right....
And because of it we have increased odds of mutually assured destruction in WWIII. A limey fat **** like you should appreciate that history a little more than an American.
The tin foil hats (mine included) are out in full force. Pictures from the wreckage shows a black hole in the ground with no sign of a plane, but several bodies strewn about perfectly intact.
Not sure what the impact would be like falling from 33,000 ft but I'd imagine you wouldn't look like...
Just like how you Brits let the Lusitania happen to get the US involved, the Ukraine shot this plane down to get things hotter.
Comments like ^ are what they were looking for.

All parks have lightning policies but most in Orlando start shutting down coasters at the 7-10 mile radius. Its been a few years since ive been in ops so im sure someone who is still in the biz can pinpoint the number.
Additionally, most parks have weather codes, some colored some numbered...
Re: Gatlinburg to Dollywood by Public Transportation?
These are some pretty area specific questions that might be better answered by a Dollywood/Gatlinburg forum.
But...if I remember correctly the center is located in the same plaza as the Ripley's Aquarium. Its just a series of pavilions...
^Most snobs that are enthusiasts will have that line of thinking (I am better than you), whether you go all in or don't.
I wear whatever shirt I have packed to theme parks. Theme park tat can be used as a conversation starter (if you want it to), I have had people come up to me for my...
What a difference a few years makes. I got a tour of the "global development" office in 2010, it consisted of one guy with a poster of concept art from Universal Dubai.
^That could be a Q&A on its own but I would guess it could be something like:
Undersold value of rides (didn't charge enough for work)
Mismanagement of funds
Loss of income due to litigation (did they get sued for anything)
Combo of all 3, or other factors.
^Wonder howmuch better the ride is performing? I have second hand reports that they were only doing 800p guests an hour the first few days, which was around 50% what they wanted to hit.
