I feel like I’m going to be roasted for this, but I can’t think of many rides I’ve laughed more on with friends than Reverchon spinning mice. They’re obviously not /good/ rides, they’re just so wildly uncomfortable and tacky and fun.
I’d really LIKE to see an RMC at Thorpe, partly for selfish reasons (it’s my closest major park) but also because they’re overdue a new development and there’s so much space going to waste there, especially now Logger’s Leap is no more. I still don’t think it’s terribly likely that we’ll get one...
Gained 4 creds at Winter Wonderland today! First time I’ve been able to post on this thread since joining. In order of riding:
Euro Coaster or whatever it’s called at the moment
It was pretty sub-par really - didn’t do much, wasn’t smooth or even nice to look at - but we rode it first because...
Just Space Invader 2 at BPB (as far as I know, anyway). Didn’t know anyone had died on it at the time of riding, I was about 7 years old. I always imagine I’d feel weird knowingly getting on a ride that had been someone’s last (not that it would put me off or that I’d be concerned for my safety...
The only coaster I’ve ridden that I genuinely disliked to the point where I’d never ride it again was probably Turbo (the Pinfari looper on Brighton Pier). I don’t usually mind rough rides (Colossus is genuinely my favourite ride at Thorpe) but that was beyond horrific and nowhere near exciting...
Daddylonglegs are my absolute worst. I‘m terrified of the things. Don’t really like spiders either although I can tolerate small ones.
In terms of stuff that affects my coaster experiences - not keen on heights either, still haven’t braved anything over 200ft (although I’m going to Nagashima...
For financial and location reasons I don’t get to go to theme parks very often and when I do I’m usually with friends or family who aren’t enthusiasts. So it would be sort of odd (/impolite) if I was more focused on getting creds than enjoying the day with them. Usually I just have a good time...
If you don’t take them too seriously, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the majority of them. Obviously some are a little obnoxious but that’s YouTube for you in general.
I’ll admit to watching TPW’s vlogs sometimes when my anxiety / insomnia really kicks in at night: it’s just...
Well, this will be straightforward.
England
First: Nickelodeon Streak @ BPB (back when it was called Rollercoaster)
Favourite: Colossus @ Thorpe (yes, really)
Least favourite: Turbo @ Brighton Pier
Should be able to add Japan next year :)
Probably Cliffhanger at Blackgang Chine. Only rode it once or twice on a school trip about ten years ago. Ironically I now live about 30 minutes away from the park on but haven't been back, although I did pass it on the bus the other day. They've repainted it a sort of rust-brown colour. I miss...
I've never been anything but soaked to the skin from head to toe after riding Tidal Wave. I'd go on most water rides regardless of the weather but I can't bring myself to ride TW when it isn't boiling hot, would feel like pneumonia waiting to happen.
Haven't been on Valhalla yet though.
I second Quantum at Thorpe for sure. The first time I went was on a school trip when I was 13 and the park was almost empty save for us and one other school (it was mid-week in early spring during term time). Because most rides were walk-on a very chilled out ride operator let us ride Quantum...
Not sure about “favourite” since I’m not really a drop tower person but in terms of sticking in my mind, Detonator at Thorpe Park is probably the only ride I’ve been on to this day that left me physically shaking for upward of 10 minutes afterwards. Could only go on Rumba Rapids and the teacups...
In no particular order...
1) Hakugei @ Nagashima Spa Land
2) Ultra Twister @ Nagashima Spa Land
3) Steel Vengeance @ Cedar Point
4) Lightning Rod @ Dollywood
5) Olympia Looping
6) Mindbender @ Galaxyland
7) Oblivion @ Alton Towers
8) Nemesis @ Alton Towers
9) The Big One @ Blackpool...
I still haven’t been on Derren Brown’s Rail
Replacement Bus Service despite having been to Thorpe twice since it was built. The first time we queued for half an hour only for the ride to break down (and we weren’t in the mood to queue for it again on a day when some of the other major rides were...
North America: Too many to list but Mindbender, Steel Vengeance and The Beast are all up there. I’ve never been to America or wanted to go there for any reason other than coasters honestly.
Europe: Nemesis most probably, if only so everyone will stop telling me how much I need to ride it every...
