^^ You're right costar, it is definitely a Safeco ride.
PS is Perrin Stevens, UK based copy. His version of the ride has a full platform as opposed to the Safeco model which has a circular cut out in the middle. They don't bounce very well either!
The old Tarantula polyp that was at West Mids Safari Park is back! Now located towards the Apple coaster and has been rethemed with Hippo cars. Actually looks really good!
^ The ride in question was manufactured by Spanish company Safeco.
When the ride folds up/pulls down for transportation some of the cars hinge onto their side from the hinge point that this accident happened on. When the ride is built up the car is hinged down into position and then the pin...
Talking to Neil (operations manager) on opening day, he said that at the time it was set to fire as the train left the top of the lift hill, but they were planning on changing it to coincide with the train passing. Whether this is still the plan or not I don't know!
Colossus was originally planned for Chessington, which was intended to be the 'Thrills park', but they couldn't get the planning permission and now we have thorpe as the place of many thrills and chavs and such.
That's another point .. bad news with regards to the arena - one of their focusses for the next few years is bringing more events in and looking at expanding/improving it. When asked if they had any plans for X:\WTF in the future the only answer they had was that perhaps the arena could be...
Speaking of plans for 2015 and 2018 etc, another thing he said on the tour was that by 2018 Thorpe will be full with no space for further attractions.
They've also looked at moving the car park over the road (they own that land too) and bridging across to the old carpark which could then be...
I was on the tour with UKrides, and I've gotta say that after being pretty sceptical from seeing pics before hand, I was majorly impressed with how it's looking. The plane looks far less 'plonked' in person and the fire engine looks like it's gunna be an interesting near miss, especially with...
Re: New "world-first" coaster at Alton Towers 2013
I was just having a read through the PDF on this train, interesting quote being "LSM Launch and vertical lift feasible on one coaster".
Plus, it looks so sexy!
Have a read, link to the pdf: http://www.maurer-rides.com/files/amuse ... -Train.pdf
Legoland Discovery Centre has been on my to-do list for a while now, thanks for sharing the pics. Could quite easily combine it with the Blackpool Merlin stuff and make a good day of it.
Went to London earlier this week and into the Dungeon and Tussauds, it was nice little day out with the...
Wow. My post was simply a response to Jake's comment; "I've been various times when they have had two running and it doesn't increase throughput in the slightest". But thanks for the patronising comment all the same!
Shockwave was running both trains more frequently last year.
Yes it does take a long time to load, and this is exactly the reason why running two is a benefit over running just the one. At least whilst train 1 is out on the track, train 2 can do a minute and a half's worth of it's load/unload...
