Your Most Ridden Manufacturers

Will

Strata Poster
There's a lot of 'how many xxx have you ridden?' topics doing the rounds lately, so, whilst amending my goon spreadsheet, I thought I'd set the ball rolling on another one.
goonyspreadsheet.jpg

The current winner is Vekoma, who are responsible for 14.7% of my count. This is also a good way of analysing how many of the rides you've done are actually any good.
The 'unknowns' are any that don't have a manufacturer listed on RCDB; I'll try and thin those out next time I'm very bored.
I'm also working on adding in ratings, to show which manufacturer and park on average make the best coasters (still filling in the data, but looks like being Phantasialand and B&M)

Well, let's see. First, let's break it down by steel vs. wood:

Then, let's see which amusement parks I've ridden the most of:

Dialing further into designer (spoiler, Ing-Buro designs everything):

And finally, the Pièce de Résistance:

B&M by a hair over Arrow.

Surprisingly, it's a tie between Arrow and B&M with 9 followed by Intamin at 7. Hopefully Arrow will edge out the others... (Ca...can i say things like that? It can't be a bad thing to be an Arrow fan...right?)

I went ahead and copied Hyde's pie chart idea. So, B&M wins by a lot. Vekoma, Arrow, and Intamin all did well.

Here are my top 5;
1 - Vekoma - 42
2 - B&M - 36
3 - Mack - 34
4 - Intamin - 33
5 - Zierer - 25

I'll take a wild stab in the dark and guess that if you're based in Europe, your top manufacturer will be Vekoma and if you're based in the US then your top manufacturer is more likely to be B&M or Arrow.

Right, pie charts are the worst, so not going to jump on that silly bandwagon. ;)

I've just got a nice clean table in my spreadsheet (essentially just a formatted pivot table), with a conditional format to highlight the top three.

To address @DelPiero's statement, I think you're possibly right - however in my personal experience, I think Vekoma still pips it. As you can see by this chart, over 60% of my ridden coasters are in the USA (which includes most of the major parks), but Arrow does sit in 4th place behind Intamin. However, it's definitely the USA B&Ms that push them into second place.

So let's break it down by continent to see how that balances out:

Seems like you're not far off. In Europe it's Vekoma, Mack and Intamin/Zierer that hold the top three spots, but in North America it's B&M, Vekoma and Intamin.

God, I ****ing love spreadsheets. <3

Agreed :p
Sadly, I'm on the home PC, using sodding Excel 2003.

So, now we know who made the creds - are they actually any good?

Okay, it's one thing to use pie charts. It's another to use exploded pie charts. But it's god damn ****ing ridiculous to use a 3D exploded pie chart. Tut-tut. ;)

Can't believe goons have spreadsheets that DON'T have a MFR pivot table in them, nor even one that's ordered on COUNT descending. #fail

*deep breath*
1, that's my larger alphabetical break down. Of course, I have another list in order of count but it has a large 'others' category.

2. I agree that exploded 3D pie charts suck balls but that's standard chart layout at my company so I sort of did it on autopilot. Feel free to tell them it's crap.

3. Pivot tables can **** right off.

The worst offence, really, is that I've droped a cred somewhere. Just shoot me now.

My list consists of three categories: park, coaster and 'notes' (ie, was it a milestone). So no, I do not know how many of what I've ridden.

^ for shame. ;)

My coaster-count.com count always disagreed with my spreadsheet count, I was bored the other week and reconciled the two... that took a while but found a couple of things I had ridden that I had not noted in my spreadsheet (like Maverick for some reason!). Anyway happy that the both are right now, even though coaster-count.com is still wrong as it counts mobius as 2.

Vekoma has a healthy lead though, Top 10;

Vekoma #128 (14.14%)
B&M #79 (8.73%)
Intamin #73 (8.07%)
Arrow #58 (6.41%)
Mack #54 (5.97%)
Zierer #46 (5.08%)
Gerstlauer #40 (4.42%)
Maurer #37 (4.09%)
Zamperla #34 (3.76%)
Schwarzkopf #33 (3.65%)
