Wild Waves Theme Park to close at the end of the 2026 season

Makes sense, the new light rail station finally opened nearby and land values are at an all-time high in that area. The owners were likely just waiting on an insane offer before selling.

I could see the new owners maybe redeveloping the waterpark and building a bunch of shoddy, $2,200 a month 1bdrm, 5-over-1 apartment buildings around it. This is definitely not the announcement I've been waiting for. Good thing I started looking at homes near Carowinds, because the Seattle area will never get a proper park.

Hate to say it...buttttttt..... park was a *dump* when I visited in 2018. Upwards of 15 rides were closed including one of the coasters (mouse) and after just 2 hours we gave up and just left, heading over to the Tacoma zoo and had a much more pleasant afternoon. And honestly, none of the rides are really a major loss, Timberhawk, while it looked pretty, was rather forgettable.
So while it sucks a bunch of people are gonna loose their home park, it wasn't a very good park

I visited at the end of August and had a decent time of it this year. Everything was open and running for me, Timberhawk isn't a world beater but it's a good family coaster and was easily the most popular ride there.

It's not a great park by any means but it is kind of the only park (except when the state fair is just down the road)

Not a big lost to us enthusiasts in general (apart from a rare s&s wooden coaster) but it's a fairly big loss for the locals with sod all else around.

That's a shame. That area of the US won't have a lot park-wise without Wild Waves!

Am I right in saying that this will make Falken at Farup Sommerland the world's only remaining S&S wooden coaster?

Nope, we still also have Hell Cat at Clementon Park, whose future is being secured as we speak as some 208 track has been spotted in the car park earlier this year.
