What happened to Saw The Ride this week?

I went to Thorpe Park today and Saw The Ride was closed. (What a surprise!) But this time, it had one empty ride cart tied down to the track half way round, not on a brake run. It was held down with straps and a big wire just after the Immelman, and it looked really odd - I can't imagine the car stalling at that point. Does anyone know why they would have had to do that?
Sorry if this is a silly question, but I've never seen a coaster car in this situation before! Just wondering what it could mean..

I'd imagine its being strapped down to keep it in position (that sounds so stupidly obvious re-reading it) until they can remove it from track, so possibly a wheel may have failed to cause the loss of speed and the 'valleying', would also explain why they don't want the car to move if it is damaged as it could cause more damage.

All speculation though.

Good point, I hadn't considered that it could be more damaging to let the car go round until the brake run. Cheers!

As Smithy says, it sounds like the ride valleyed, probably due to the high winds, possibly during testing this morning.

It's rare, but just look at something like Jubilee Odyssey to see what the wind can do to a ride.

Yeah, yesterday there was a severe weather warning for wind!

Still really interesting. I bet, more than its damaging to move it, it just would take too much time out of the engineers day. Especially because its off peak, and they will be minimally saffed.

And those cups of tea don't drink themselves ;)

Just to say saw valleyed again today and apparently did over the weekend aswell so something must be going on. The weather was fine today - no strong winds or anything that should lead to it.
it happened literally as the park opened so just as it would of been opening, by about half 2 they had got it over the Immelmann, it then made it over the airtime hill but didnt make it up to the brake run so rolled back again. by the time leaving the park just after 5 they had winched it halfway up the turn to the brake run.

rubbish picture but this was taken about 2 when they had started to winch it up

It's nothing new. Quite a frequent sight from the car park in 2011 whilst working there.

The ride is always super slow first thing in the morning.
