What are your Coasterthon / Coaster Marathon Tips???

Mega Poster
I am big into marathons and anything coasters. I have done a few already and know what I do to get ready, but I am always anxious to learn from others and implement accordingly.

Currently, I am getting ready for the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Coasterthon - 9 to 10 hours on the triple-looping Mindbender at SFOG. We did that ride last year but got shortened due to rain. Either way, I am putting together a more-comprehensive post with tips over on the CoasterAddict.com site and would love to share more than just my viewpoint and tips. If you have any tips that you'd like me to share (with credit to you) and consider for implementation, please comment below!

Cheers!

First off, you will never convince me the horizontal loop is a loop. :)

Second off, when I have to "marathon", usually for a commercial shoot, I try and eat a light breakfast and drink a cup of water. I try and take slow deep breaths, and really avoid having "fun". Sounds weird but for me the natural adrenaline that is created from a ride wears me down after several rides in a row, that's when I have seen people get nauseas, faint, etc... So I try and keep my excitement levels as flat as possible.

All that being said at the end of the day you are putting unnatural forces on your body for an extended period of time, with little rest. Some people just wont be able to handle it.

Just keep pushing the water. Dehydration will lead to poor blood circulation, muscle cramping, and all round crapiness.

More Coasterthon Thoughts?

As I mentioned before, we are riding Mindbender for 10 hours on June 13th, but it made me wonder which type of person would most easily complete any coaster marathon....

Is it more ideal to be a little heavier with some fat on you so that you might retain more water and hence delay potential dehydration? Of course, a heavier person will have feel more weight forces against him or her - if I am 200lbs and ride something with 4Gs, that is 800lbs of pressure, but if I suddenly bulk up to 225 in order to have more cushion, I'd gain 100lbs of additional force under that condition (so to speak).

Is it better to be leaner? Leaner tends to insinuate that you are fitter as well, and that helps with endurance, stamina, and energy, but leaner could lead to less water (and hence more chance of dehydration) and also lead to less body to cushion everything with!

Again, I'm riding this time while sitting around 10% body fat and 183lbs. Nothing major has changed since last year's coaster event(s), and I certainly am not pondering bulking up or leaning down for this event. This post is merely to raise some discussion on the matter, and I appreciate your insight, expertise, and time (in advance)!

Edit - No need for a separate topic for this. It can be discussed here. ECG
