Walibi Belgium in talks to RMC Loup-Garou (report)

Sources to Looopings claim Walibi Belgium is in active talks with Rocky Mountain Construction on giving the Iron Horse treatment to the park’s Vekoma wooden coaster Loup-Garou. The coaster is set to remain operational throughout the 2025 season, but come 2026 may be closed to allow a conversion of the popular-but-rough coaster to occur.

The park hinted at the possibility during a fan event earlier in the fall, but the new report claims plans are further along than expected and a potential layout has already been drawn up.

I guess with the new coaster opening next year, they're getting a solid family coaster replacement already. A new extreme coaster would benefit the park nicely, given the successes of Kondaa too.

Whilst I haven't ridden it in ages, I always enjoyed Loup Garou, and will be sad if it does get RMC'd.

Great news, but not in the least bit surprising. Pretty much the only logical choice for Walibi Belgium's next thrill coaster. I mean, we all said it didn't we? Pretty much every trip report from the last 3 years, including mine, said exactly the same thing: 'Aw man, if they RMC'd Loup Garou, this place would have a killer line up'.
Can't wait to see the layout.

Glad I snagged the cred this year. I still think the woodie could be really good if they just... like... took care of it. It's a good layout with some decent airtime and laterals.

That said, I'm not gonna say no to an RMC.

We rode it in the dark last year and it was an absolute blast despite the roughness. With a bit of track work it could be fantastic, there are so few good woodies in Europe, I'd be sad to see it go. Come on Walibi just scrap Vampire and build a ground-up RMC over there please!

Didn't the park sort of announce that they want to rip out Vampire at a fan meeting last month? That would open up a frankly huge plot of land for a RMC conversion of Loup-Garou. I'd like to see it. I must say it would be sad to see another woodie bite the dust here in Europe, they're not too common anymore.

Thought the same thing. If I remember correctly, he also said it didn't mean that if they would remove Vampire, they would replace it with another rollercoaster.

However, Jean-Christophe Parent also said that Festival World (retheme the Vampire/Loup Garou zone into a New Orleans themed zone) was the next project, after Dock World. I guess that it means that it is the perfect time to convert Loup Garou.

It's gotten so rough, at least for me. Even with those heavely cushioned seats (that are great, when the ride is at a stop! 😅)

The current layout is a good one though - and great track length. I would've been fine with a classic retrack (like à 208 or topper) and with a better profiling the turns. But seems like we're getting something bonkers!

Taken from the article (translated);
"RMC has created a plan for an unparalleled ride experience with elements that have never been used anywhere else, according to insiders. It would instantly make the attraction one of the most spectacular coasters in Europe."
YES PLEASE !😍

Aw Loup-Garou was a weird one for me, I get quite sensitive to roughness but I had an absolute blast on this coaster. One back row ride after being stapled was incredibly uncomfortable but the layout has alot of charm and personality, I spent most of my rides on it laughing my head off. From my understanding there's a lot of love from the locals for this coaster so I really hope they maintain some of its personality in a conversion.

I'm fully supportive of this though.
