Underrated Coasters That Surprised You?

Hey everyone,

Just got back from a trip to Blackpool Pleasure Beach and was really surprised by how much I enjoyed Blue Flyer — honestly wasn’t expecting much, but it totally blew me away. It’s this tiny family woodie tucked in the corner, and I figured I’d just tick it off the credit list… but wow. Great little pops of airtime, smoother than expected (especially for its age), and barely any queue. Got a few re-rides in and it ended up being one of the highlights of the trip. Total underdog.

Got me thinking—what are some coasters that you didn’t expect to enjoy, but ended up loving? Could be a family coaster, something with a bad reputation, or even one you just never paid much attention to before riding.

Curious to hear what hidden gems people have found. Bonus points if it made you rethink a whole park!

Oh that's too funny! I'm with you on [insert coaster name] at [insert park name], which I found was way less talked about than [insert other coaster name at insert park name]. The [insert coaster element] was especially surprising, which really interacted with [insert park unique geologic feature] nicely. I can't wait to try other [insert coaster manufacturer and/or model name]!

For a recent coaster, Curse of the Werewolf is a surprisingly great family coaster. While it is a tad on the shorter side, the launches are super punchy and many of the coasters elements have a nice kick to them. IDK if I'd wait 70-100 mins for it. but if the line is reasonable, I would definitely ride. I adore the creepy circus theme too. It definitely has a better queue than Hiccup at least. Night rides are really fun too!
