Toverland replaces bobsleigh attraction

peep

CF Legend
I think I've mentioned this somewhere on the forums before but some images of the new plans have emerged online so thought I'd start a topic.

Towards the end of last year the park closed their woudracer attraction to replace it with a newer version, a different layout and a better system (unfortunately it'll probably still have awful capacity). They're also going to add a bunch of theming and the like, take a look at the plans below...

The above pictures were taken from a small teaser video posted by the park to their Youtube channel. The full video can be found below...

The ride will also have a new score made by IMAscore and will open in the Spring.

I hope it's still an electric bobsleigh, cos the one at Schwaben was fab <3

If it is - I hope it's as good as schwaben and steinwasen's versions - the toverland one seemed a lot slower than those 2!

The one at Skyline is still the best (or should I say fastest), but maybe this one will put it to shame. I doubt it as the park tends to go for more family friendly attractions and they'll concentrate on the theme rather than making it a thrill ride. Which is fine by me.

I'm so glad that they're putting effort into bringing the rest of the park up to scale theming wise. When I first visited the difference between old and new was very clear, now they're obviously trying to make the quality of the theming consistent throughout.

Yeah, this is a step in the right direction. Next on the list should be to blend in those awfully hideous warehouses with the rest of the park. They look lovely inside, but the outside is just an eye sore. After that they can start on the mega coaster and the water coaster that they were planning to build <3

I still find that Toverland feels very plonked on a big open grassy area. I still get that with Troy, so I hope that in the future it will feel like a coherent theme park without stuff like that breaking the immersion.

Fab! I think I'll visit in a couple of weeks when I have more time. Then I'll make some photos and tell you guys what it's like and how it has improved.

^ Yeah, that guy is braking all the time. I don't get the point of that, I never brake on it and it's already perfectly fine, so I don't see why anyone would ever brake. It automatically slows down when you are getting too close to someone.

Bit disappointed by the outdoor part to be honest. I was hoping for some actual theming but it's just a roof. The rest looks pretty good though.

I went to Toverland today for this ride, so here I will post my thoughts and a little review. The queue was dark so sorry for the god awful phone pics I've taken, but it should sort of give you a feeling for the queue.

Capacity is still vile

The story is about Maximus Müller, a German scientist who is working on an experiment to build the fastest bobsled ever made. Every rider is invited to be a test subject. I think the story is simple but succesful, exactly how it should be for a park like Toverland. When you enter the house, you first enter the living room.

It has a cat, which automatically makes the queue-line ten times better.

Same can be said for a fireplace, with that oh so cozy crackling sound <3

The living room is full of furniture and that kind of stuff. There are some random effects too, like the cuckoo clock going off. It was lovely. It reminded me a bit of Matterhorn Blitz as well.

Some story elements

Next you enter the kitchen, which also has some little quirky stuff and smoke effects!

The queue could use some more air conditioning though. It was very very warm with a lot of people in a small and dark room on a relatively warm day.

After you leave the kitchen you go past the toilet. It has an interactive element; when you sit on it, it makes farting or peeing noises. Kids love it but it also holds the queue up a bit.

Electricity effects here that go on and off

Now this is where the queue gets really impressive. Next up is the engine room, where Maximus' machine is. No photo I made do it justice, it's really cool.

This thing comes to life now and then, rolling his eyes. Above him all sorts of light effects and strobe lights go off. It's amazing.

It also has gears everywhere that start spinning now and then. The entire queue is full of little yet fab effects <3

Then a relatively bland corridor followed. It had a little bit of theming and a TV screen of Maximus telling his story, which also includes safety rules.

Then you finally arrive at the station. It's fab!

The vehicles have improved significantly too, aesthetically at least

The queue as a whole is great! It's not quite Black Mamba/Wodan/Vliegende Hollander level of quality, but it's fantastic nonetheless. One of the best themed queue-lines in the Netherlands. Toverland has done a wonderful job.

Now for the ride itself.... There's not much to say about it really. There are some strobe light effects during the initial indoor section (the 'launch') which is quite nice. It also has on-board music which added a lot to it, but that's pretty much where the improvements end. The ride is basically the same but with a roof over it. It also felt shorter, which is probably for capacity reasons. At one point during the ride there was a shed with a couple of chickens, but no more theming on-ride. A bit of a disappointment, because the queue, station and indoor bit are so awesome.
