In a few months, the '00s (or the "Noughties") will be coming to a close. Time flies, doesn't it? Well, as we near 2010, what do you think the best and the most innovative rides of the decade were, and as we gain information, what do you think will be the best new rides in 2010? Intimidator 305 at KD? The 500 foot tall dueling aquatrax at CP? What's your opinion?

I think wooden coasters took the crown in thi s decade, we saw designers take the coasters to new extremes which some thoughts wasn't possible! But we have also seen many new steel concepts, or concepts taken further like the vertical coaster, some new concepts in steel have failed though, such as Maurer Sohne's X Car, which never seemed to take off, I hear reviews about Universals Rip Roket ride is pretty muc haverage, we also saw the take off of "more than vertical" rides, although a hit with parks and the general public, now alot of enthusiasts get annoyed to see one go up! Especially in a well financially stable park

Next decade, I'm sure we're going to see even crazier concepts, and designers taking more extremes, I saw a programme once, and it had a section "rides of the future", and people were wearing protective clothing etc because rides got so fast, high and put you through things which could kill you wihtout the protective clothes etc!! But that'll probably be 2050 XD.

Best ride of the decade? Boulder Dash until I ride something better :)

Most influential ride of the decade? Millennium Force.

10 years is a long time to pick just one ride that has been "the best", but yes I have to agree with all that said it, Boulder Dash has likely been one of the best additions of the decade. Not the most influencial, but that's not what the topic is about. Toro also has been one of the best additions.

I think the 4D coasters have been a major new coaster type. Although they haven't really taken off properly, who knows, perhaps in the next 10 years we'll see some more, with new layouts!

I feel like we may see Blue Fire as a turning point where we see more small coasters with inversions (maybe with launch) and lap bars. It's something that Maurer seemed to pioneer with the X-car, but Mack has taken to something that looks more appealing. From the reviews, I expect we might see more of these soon.

Millennium did a lot of things like Marcus has said, although I think the trend has now turned towards smaller things that do a lot of stuff. Maverick and Fahrenheit both take short stature and do a lot to it with inversions and turns and launches and stuff. Mega Lites fit under this category too. It seems like there's very few of the larger coasters getting built in comparison to these smaller ones that seem more varied, so I think that's where the best new rides will be coming from.

I think the Intamin Pre-fabs are most impressive (T-Express, El Toro, Colossos and Balder). The air-time and smoothness of them (for a woodie, okay maybe T-Express isn't extremely smooth...) looks unbeatable.
