The government space dept are thinking of reviving the idea of the UK having its own space agency. The UK leads the world in satalite technolagy.

Who knows what will happen though with the UK being the 4th biggest contributer to the European space agency. There is room in there to give UK the room to have there own department or break away agency.

This is still a whisper the the wind as of yet.

We already have the Starchaser guys from Manchester. They send unmanned rockets into Space; something that I think is much more impressive than sending men to their deaths

**** sake, more useless things for our money to be wasted on.
It's just another way for the UK to say "I've still got bigger gonads than the rest of you", so on that basis -

No, I don't want one.

I worked for a company that used to send stuff into space. It was really interesting actually.

I'm really not fussed about having our own space agency - just keep on making money doing satellite jobs :)

I dont think we should, we can not even get our trains and road working so please dont waste more money.

The whole Space Station to me is a waste of money. They should have built something on the moon, something that can stay there for ever.

What are they learning in space at the moment? what help has it given to people on Earth? I dont see anything tbh.

Dont get me wrong I love si-fi and I like seeing rockets take off, but nothing is coming from it other than wasting money.

If a ships costs £100 million I think they should just give everyone in the UK £50,000 back as that means they had money to waste.

Part of me says yes, just because of more work opportunities in the future for me :)

But the UK would be to small to on their own make a huge difference in the Space flight area.
They have to fight with the US, Russia, China, Japan, ESA, Brasil, etc...

It would be better for the UK and Europe if they continue/increase their cooperation with ESA, so I vote no.

Just stay with the ESA for god sake....Its a coalition and there are enough companies in Europe that contribute to it, including the UK. So no need for a UK space agency.

Now the people in the gov are going all smoke and mirrors. There is talk about moveing a portion of the funding the UK gives to the ESA and form a small test of the ideas. But this is getting hammerd from all sides as most would rather concentrate on the UK makeing more satalites and such.

Part of me thinks that if we keep ****ing up projects like Beagle 2 (I so wanted that to work! and Prof Colin Pillinger's sideburns are legendry! hehe) then we don't deserve any more money. On the other hand... how are things ever going to get better without?

I vote keep it as it is
