SFNE to close their Von Roll Skyride

From ScreamScape:

Screamscape sources tell us that Six Flags New England will retire their classic Von Roll Sky Way attraction at the end of the season. Unlike your typical Von Roll skyride you may have seen elsewhere over the years, the one running at Six Flags New England features unique globe shaped cars that were originally built and run at Coney Island back in 1963 before being moved to the New England park in 1973. It’s sad to see a classic ride with a history like this retired.

I find it sad that more parks are removing these. Especially this one with the circle cages. At least I got to ride one(the one at CP).

Its not like it was open often anyways... And when it was running, the park would only use MAYBE 6 cars on it.

Although not a bad as the one at Hersheypark, which goes nowhere, it's still pretty awful. It's too short, has extremely low capacity, seating that faces only to the left and poor reliability (as CanobieFan stated).
I hate to say this, but good riddance.

The only real bad part is, because the ride takes up so little space, it won't be replaced with anything. The south end station is over a gift shop and the north right up along Cyclone. So a loss without a replacement. And once it's removed... that will leave SFNE with uh, Thunderbolt, the Carousel, Crime Wave (Wave Swinger), Route 66, and Buzzsaw/SlingShot as rides left from before Six Flags (Premier) took over. (and technically Buzzsaw/SlingShot was removed in 00 but returned) Yup, just 5 rides older than 1996.

^Not sure why that is a problem? The park lacks decent expansion space (as far as I'm aware, please correct me if wrong) so to keep moving forward and get people to return they need to offer new attractions, unfortunately this means they have to get rid of "classic" attractions, most parks have to do this. Also just because it's an old attraction, doesn't mean it's good, especially in these circumstances, a little sky ride that cuts out a 5 min walk by taking three times as long?

Also, wouldn't this have something to do with the current construction on Cyclone seeing as it is so close?

Bingo! As CanobieFan said, it's sat next to the coaster on the Cyclone end and needs to be removed for the Iron Horse treatment.
