SFGAdv to get star flyer & some other stuff for 2012

I don't know how common knowledge this is, but I didn't know and saw it on blooloop this morning. (If you don't follow blooloop, worth doing... Great source of news for all kinds of attractions.)

Star flyer, bumper cars, scrambler and return of flying elephants for Six Flags Great Adventure next year.

Good, screamin swings are clearly the best flat ride out there. More of them makes me happy. Though I can't imagine ever going on this one, at a park with so many coasters to keep me occupied... Still.

EDIT: Star flyer, not screamin swing. What a pity. :( Bad guess and misunderstanding on my part, sorry about that.

Re: SFGAdv to get screamin swing & some other stuff for 2012

Six Flags have announced all of their 2012 attractions today.

I'm going through it now and will be putting up separate topics where necessary.

All info is here: http://news.sixflags.com/2012news/

Re: SFGAdv to get screamin swing & some other stuff for 2012

this is a great idea. Im really loving that Great Adventure this year is adding things that will please every guest. Skyscreamer is a good idea. Im very happy with six flags now.

The 150ft fail wouldn't be quite so bad if it wasn't at a part dominated by tall things.

I don't understand what makes this ride a "thrill" ride.

^Plopsa's is like, 200ft? Then the OBSCENE one at Hansa is 300ft. 150ft is "standard", but, yeah, SFGAdv should have gone higher.

Oh well, it's a dump. Lets face it. It's a bit of poo where some of the sweetcorn has been replaced with diamonds, but it's still a lump of poo at the end of the day.

The only thing that is holding you on is 4 chains, I think :p
So the thrill isn't in the sensation, it's in the way it looks unsafe?

Oh, that's funny, since people disagreed with that concept when I spoke about it with regard to BGW.

But yeah, I agree, but I still think other than the height these things are tame and perceived as being tame. They are only an issue if you have a fear of heights, which many thrill seekers have, so it's not like fear of heights = likes tame rides.

FENDER BENDER - What an awesome name. Still gonna call it Gender Bender for all the time it's operating though... ;)

I REALLy don't like Star Flyers, yeah, they're an easy addition for parks and can be very thrilling for families, but I've never enjoyed them, they're such a boring experience once you get over the whole "****, I'm high up" notion.

^Those are just 3 rides that have been closed the past few seasons. They are reopening them, not new attractions.

It's like the return of the 6F ride rotation program, without actually relocating the rides.

The kid & I went to Great Adventure yesterday to meet up with Jer, get our season passes & check out the "new" rides.

First up was the new Sky Screamer star flyer...

...not quite ready yet & not as tall as I had hoped.

No swinging through the sky today, so on to give the scrambler Deja Vu a spin... or maybe not.

OK, no swinging or spinning, but at least the kiddies are having fun on Air Jumbo...

...and the Fender Bender bumper cars.

So the only thing new we can ride will cost an upcharge, but what the hell. Let's give Slingshot (that replaced erUPtion) a try...

...which would have been great, if those damn water dummies hadn't decided to stage a sit-in on the damn thing all day. :p
