Scotland adventures 2013

peep

CF Legend
Friday 31st May

I awoke at the horrific hour of 3am to make my way in time for my flight up to Aberdeen, Scotland. I managed to get to the airport even earlier than planned. I had food, nom. The flight was nice and quick and I managed to save most of a stupid woman's hot beverage. Note to peeps: Do not put an open cup of coffee on seat tray and then proceed to lift said tray in an upwards direction. *facepalm* I was congratulated by the cabin crew on my quick reflexes, go me. I should be called "SuperCoops: Saviour of hot beverages"

As soon as I made my way through the crowds at the rather cramped and busy Aberdeen airport I was greeted by a tired Patrick. We proceeded to catch a bus which was kind enough to have timed itself nicely with my arrival, how good of it.

We made it to Patrick's flat where he had begun to pack things up as he was getting ready to move out (he's just finshed uni up there). His flatmate Abi then entered the room and we decided to plan our day out amongst lots of very goony conversation.

We had managed to waste a fair amount of time before meandering over to Codonas. By the time we made it over there we were hungry which was good because the food establishments were open and the rides weren't. The nice looking and new pirate themed place was only for peeps with young ones small enough to roam the new play area. What a stupid idea. The person working there told us the diner and other food place was open (they were clearly aware we weren’t interested in the Wimpy sitting next to us). The Diner place was loud due to it being by the bowling alleys which were being used by kids. The other place looked nice but was closed off due to a party of kids. We ended up having to deal with Wimpy.

Wimpy wasn’t as bad as we were expecting. The burger meat tasted ok, so it was probably horse :P

By the time we had finished eating the rides were open. Hurrah! The whole place was plagued with kids of varying age. This made us sad. We went over to the Wimpy mine train cred thing. It had a long queue and we were momentarily distracted by the swinging ship as it had no queue. This was such a bad idea, swinging ships should be avoided after eating. That was unpleasant but we only had ourselves to blame.

We then joined the queue for the Wimpy cred. It was enjoyable and fairly standard. I think the grande pomme was next. It went round three times, how thrilling. We also went to ride the other cred, Looping star of pain. As the made up title suggests, it was painful. What was odd was that the weather was being decent up till this point where some mass of fog decided to descend upon the whole area.

Due to this odd change in the weather we went on the ferris wheel, the fog only got more dense, was quite surreal. The ride was also relaxing so we made the ride op make us go round twice. Other attractions we sampled were the rather amazing dodgems inside the arcade, the 99p store haunted mansion, the slide of wheee and the waltzer of vom.

We ended our time at the park with a round of miniature golf. It was a decent game of golf, I was doing alright and then descended into worst player of golf in the history of mini golf. The girls in front took forever too which was slightly annoying at times. There were some effects around the course which were cool like a cannon ball battle between a ‘fort’ and ship, sound, smoke and splash effects aplenty. Patrick ended up winning, I played the bad loser for lols.

Abi and I then rode the Wimpy cred a couple more times to get our monies worth.

We then walked into town where we whored the quidco app, got a half price frappe at Starbucks and bumped into some of Abi’s friends from uni. We dropped our bags off at their flat before making our over to the very nice Union Square shopping center for food based times. We ended up going to Giraffes which was ok but the food took around an hour which is an absolute joke. We then went to see Populaire at the cinema before getting some sleep back at the flat.

Saturday 1st June

After a good night’s sleep we got ready and got in Abi’s little automobile. We drove for what felt forever (I was still tired despite the awesome sleep) and we stopped off at a Tesco in Dundee (totally counting this as the Dundee cred). We then continued until we reached M&Ds. On the way we sang along like goons to several Disneyland Paris songs, I also made sure Nic received a special phone call when Animagique was played <3

M&Ds gave off a vile vibe as soon as we arrived. The car parks were fairly full and the park was full of horrible little creatures (i.e. kids). We went straight for food. I got a calzone from the pizza place, it was clearly going to be the best thing about this entire park. For £4 I got a pizza rammed with ham and cheese, it was nom.

We then had to go and queue for our wristbands. Patrick was awesome and managed to buy several copies of the Sun which allowed him two free wristbands so we only had to buy one and share the cost between the three of us. Winner. However the queue to get said wristbands was long and horrible, we assumed everyone else had done the same.

After finally getting our wristbands we joined our first ride queue. From what I could gather the park wasn’t used to queues so therefore didn’t build any, nor did the staff do anything to direct guests into sensible queues. This caused queues that passed the exit areas, splitting and merging with other ride queues. It was silly and annoying. However after some time waiting we were finally on our first cred of the day. It was the weird mine train thing, it was alright, maybe a little too jarring on the tight turns.

I’m going to end it there for today. I’ll write up the final part tonight. Thanks for reading and sorry for the lack of photos. I'll hopefully get the few images to work then too.

The queue at m n d's wristband shop on our trip was rather odd - the longest out of anything, and stayed long throuhgout the day!

I thought it was a sort of tacky seaside park, without the sea! "Space" was just a vile coaster.
