Roller Coaster Corporation Of America, Poor Wood?

Yeah, they're absolutely dire. I've rode Magnus Collossus. It's the worst thing my spine has ever encountered and that's including a 110mph RTA.

I've only been on two of them: Coaster Express and White Canyon.

Personally, I didn't find Coaster Express to be too bad in term of roughness, but it's a pretty crap, dull coaster. I had one go each in the front and back and that was enough, even though it was walk on and I could've ridden it a lot more.

White Canyon is absolutely putrid. There's nothing good to be said about that coaster.

After riding Son of Beast, I completely agree. I've never felt so nauseous in my entire life. It was a great coaster, minus the pain and sickness it caused.

Magnus Colossus always looked like an intriguing roller coaster layout. Not surprised at its roughness though.

Their long, winding wooden coasters have been atrocious. Son of Beast's Rose Bowl is single handedly the worst roller coaster experience out there.

Why would Kings Island look to this company (considering all of the great alternatives) to build the world's tallest wood coaster (and one with a loop for that matter)? Maybe it's because they were the only ones crazy enough to take on the task.

I've only been on 1 of their creations and that is "SOB" back in July 2000, It was more extreme vibrations than rough. I just think the park did not take long enough to pick the builder, they wanted something to match CP "MF" for the same year.

At-least all of these coasters (apart from SOB as that is now condemed) can have the "Topper" track or be made into a "Hybrid" to improve their ride :--D

I've been on coaster express and bandit

I don't think coaster express is THAT bad

Bandit is rougher than being dragged over gravel. and shakes so much throughout!

I've ridden Son Of Beast & Bandit. I hated both & I'm not looking forward to riding Coaster Express next year.

Having never ridden one, I'm curious as to what exactly makes them so rough. The layouts all seem to have decent transitions and look smooth enough to me, if not borderline dull. Are the trains wobbly? Are the tracks poorly laid & filled with bumps?

See, I find it ballsy/weird that you and others go on stuff that's awful just because. I'm really picky, and avoid certain rides like the plague if they don't look appealing. It's the reason I have never been on any Boomerangs. They don't look worth it.

That being said, you are the best. Respect.

Oddly, I was thinking the same thing when I read ECGs post. It's like "if you know it's going to be awful, then why ride it?" Then sense took over reading your post.

It's because if you never give anything a shot, you may find yourself missing out on a really fun ride that's well worth going on at least once- like say, a Boomerang ;)

Then Hyde summed it up. You ride it once and it's done. You never have to go on it again but at least you've taken the opportunity to increase your coaster count. While I'm not keen on the whole "clone counting" thing, by having a wider experience of coasters, you have a much better idea of ride qualities, etc, etc, etc. It enhances knowledge, which can only be a good thing.

The bottom of the first drop on Coaster Express is very painful, there's a horrible jolt. But apart from that, its hilarious. The train literally bounces all over the place. I enjoyed it, in a weird way.
