PTR:Orlando (for a change)

Strata Poster
Right then, clearly I was bored, in need of a holiday so with a huge lack of
imagination or inspiration I last-minute booked a quick jaunt to Orlando.

Less than 2 years since I last went, so was not really setting out with a list
of things to do, but 2 weeks off work somewhere warm and pleasant is not to be
griped at under any circumstances - and I had a nice enough time! :)

There are a few similar reports about at the moment (see "lack of imagination"
above!) and I've been to these places a fair few times before (see here for example!)
so I shall not dwell too much on most of the details, but this is the down-low;

[Note on the pics - these are mostly just a quick dump of a few snaps straight
off the camera, there are a couple of processed shots in here too, but that
takes some more time and they are likely to pop up in the photo-thread too...]

Sunday (23-Sep) : Travel

Virgin plane from Manchester, car from Hertz, quick drive down to Downtown
Disney and I'm in the (first) hotel - not a lot to say about it (Buena Vista
Palace), but its 5 mins walk from DD and I'm on a high floor with a nice view
over WDW.

Monday : Busch

Due to some complicated/late way I have bought my Disney/Universal tickets I
could not pick them up until the Tuesday, so off to Tampa I go on the Monday.

And I really quite liked it. Wasn't the most thrilling ride ever, but pretty
good - really liked that tree-structure thingy near the start and its a long
enough ride. Didn't think that the inversion added anything to the ride though
and I didn't think it really interacted with the savannah at all like it is
advertised to do. But fun enough!

Montu really is excellent though - no Q so just rerode this for a while - great
studd, proper old-school large, intense B&M invert still running great after many
years. Lovely.

Yes! +2! Bonus!

Was trying to amuse myself by taking a picture of Big Bird (prior to his
problems with Mitt Romney!) because he appeared to need about human 5 handlers
(this is what amused me and what I was trying to take a pic of). But he?/she?/it?
spotted me taking the picture and struck a pose!

For some unexplained reason, this was down all day - no great loss but I would
have been (geekily) interested to ride it with the new trains.

Busch has a fair amount of animal stuff too, so I amused myself with a safari or

TBC...

Tuesday : Epcot

So taking advantage of the resort bus to Epcot rather than driving (so I could have an
adult beverage or two) I trek off here today.

I do really like Epcot, probably my favourite of the WDW parks - can't quite explain
why that is, but I find I can spend a day here, not do that much apart from wander around,
and still have a good time. So thats exactly what I did.

Did a few rides in the morning, Soarin' (which is nice enough, but not worth the HUGE queues
it gets here - used a FP obviously), Nemo, Mission Space, Universe of Energy, Figment and
wandered around Innovations for a while (that was actually reasonably dull - bunch of
sponsor's adverts really). For some reason I forgot to do Spaceship Earth (its not like
you can really miss the thing is it?), but was planning to come back later in the holiday
anyway so was not concerned.

Like the HUGE water tank in the Seas bit, I find I can spend ages just watching the
fishes.

Manatees make me sad though (odd that)

Ha, this must be a record for most Orlando PTR's at the same time. There will be another one (probably) soon too when Mark and Maddie get back.

Hehe, glad to see you loved that ceiling too :p

I really love Epcot, there is just so much to see, maybe not ride but there's more than enough for a great day out.

I thought Busch Gardens was a bit weird, not sure how, I'll probably figure it out when I get round to writing up my own PTR for that park.

^I found Busch to be rather strange as well.
It has several phenomenal coasters, but it felt like some areas of park have just been left to sit around for years untouched. :? It's a COMPLETELY different place to it's Williamsburg counterpart, to say the least.

Hooray for more Orlando trip reports as well. :)

I'm still waiting for some Tower of Terror pictures with some CMs that I'll hopefully recognise in! :p

^ don't think I have any people in my pics...

the CM in here was very helpful tho' let me hang around for ages taking long exposures (at the end of the day, so no queue really)

The Lobby

...but I'm getting ahead of myself now aren't I

Wednesday : MK/DHS

In a change for my usual trips to parks, today I left all cameras behind and just did
the park(s). (I'll come back in a few days with the camera though)

First up, got a resort bus to the Magic Kingdom - a place I have never particularily
got on with to be honest, but had a decent enough time.

The construction work going on is somewhat of a mess though, and not just at the
Fantasyland bit, but there were several other areas with walls up, which was kinda
really ugly.

Anyhoo, did the usual trek around the park, Space Mountain(s) are fun, got the
Barnstormer credit (+1!), Big Thunder is good enough, Pirates is a bit short, Its
A Small World still rather ethnically stereotyped (although for some reason the tune
didn't annoy me too much that time!), Haunted Mansion is OK (and the "interactive"
graveyard was new to me).

So after a (long) lap of the park, it was back on the monorail/bus to Hollywood Studios.

Grabbed a FP for RockNRoller (which I didn't need; forgot about the SRQ, muppet) and
did a couple of tours of the Tower, which was its usual excellent experience!

Think I then repeat rode StarWars a few times - even having done the new version last
year in Ca a few times, I did get some new sections this time too - it really adds
to the re-rideability of the thing this was (and having also been to Paris earlier
this year, the upgrade is definately needed there too).

I was hanging around until Fantasmic was on, since I had never seen this before (here
or in CA) and thoiught that I must be missing out on something (since they have also
replaced the nightime show at DisneySea (which I liked) with this show recently). So
with some air of anticipation I sat down in a packed auditorium to watch this...

...well I thought it was awful. A few fireworks, far too much water-screen projections,
some characters dancing around on a few boats and a pathetic dragon at the end. Just
can't see any attraction in the show at all? Is that just me?

Despite the lame-ness of Fantasmic then, still a good full day (but no pictures!)

Thursday : Islands of Adventure/Universal Studios

And with the sucess of my picture-free day at Disney, I did the same at Universal
the following day (almost - I did have a compact camera on me for later in the
day).

Started off at Islands of Adventure with a few rides on Hulk (I think I like this
ride more, the more I ride it since I really enjoyed it today after having been a bit
"meh" in the past!) and a couple of goes on the new-improved Spiderman.

Top be honest, if I had not known that Spidey had been "improved" I probably would
not have noticed - the 3d glasses were different, I'd have noticed that, but the
rest of the ride was just the same (and I KNOW that it is better now, I've seen
side-by-side comparisons etc). Still its a great rideand if the new system keeps
the ride running for another dozen years or so then its a good thing!

Had a few goes on the non-dualling dragons... its really a BAD thing that they
don't dual anymore, really takes away from the experience - not that either coaster
is bad, just that seeing the other train really added to the ride... so instead
of dualling you now just get a view of the start of the construction work going
on around the side of the Sinbad theatre for the Potter-expansion.

Speaking of Potter, managed a couple of quick rides on the Forbidden Journey, both
walk-on bercause of the SRQ, but the normal Q was only a few minutes too. Another
really good ride then - but it does seem a shame that they appear to just be cloning
this one in the other places they are putting Potter in - shame that they could not
come up with some sort of variation in these anchor-rides (maybe they are? I doubt it
though!)

After a thorough soaking on the rapids ride I made my way over to the Studios for a bit.
New to me was -1xJaws and +1xDespicableMe - I know nothing about the latter's IP at
all, so it was all a bit of a revelation to me - however the ride is great fun and
certainly one of the best "4D" type things I've been on (far far superior to the aging
Shrek opposite it in the park).

Did RipRideRockit a few times and the Mummy, before steeling myself for a wander
past the construction site that was Jaws :-(

Its a bit grim, a long walk between the lake edge and a grey construction wall that
runs from the edge of the Disaster ride to the FearFactor theatre. And by all accounts
its going to be there for quite a while - hmm ugly.

You can't see much construction of course, but from the queue to the Simpsons ride
you get an idea of the state of play...

8063521454_fa519d0df1_c.jpg

There is another big construction project bang in the middle of the park - the as yet
unannounced but rumoured Transformers. All in all, the place is a bit of a state at
the moment!

Quick go on the usually excellent T2 - "usually" since this time Arnie's motorbike
was not working, so the actors were just walking around, however the soundtrack
still played all the motorbike noises - was all a bit odd. The film was still good
though and is still (IMHO) the best 3D effect I've seen (a lot of the other 3Ds just
don't work for me?).

Epic dusk was happening across the park, but only the compact camera which is a bit
of a shame, nevermind.

8063521600_50c372cfbb_c.jpg

Have a quick re-ride on Despicable Me before they shut the park for the evening and
head off to Citywalk for some eats...

...the park being shut early because of;

Thursday (Night): Halloween Horror Nights

8031654854_d85613d871_c.jpg

Now I've never really done of these scare things - I did Terror of the Towers the
first year it was open (I think) and Lofty's Ghost Train last year but thats about
it. So I was not quite sure of what I was going to make of all this malarky...

...well I really liked it!

I'll do a bit of a run-down of the event then (not much photos though - very dark
and you obviously can't be taking pics in the houses) - so if you don't want any
spoilers, stop reading for a bit you fool - although I will not intentionally spoil
any scares I think.

Having wandered the park earlier, I was suprised at how little of HHN was visible
(Busch ealier in the week had been much more obvious about where their Howl-o-Scream
stuff was going on, but I didn't go back to Tampa for that). The only real signs
(during the day) were a few covered up signs and stalls and the odd bit of spooky
street furniture - and a lot of adverts for the event of course.

Come the night though, wandering back into the park a bit before the advertised opening
time (advertised at 6:30 but they let everyone in at 6 it seems) the place was not
really dark yet, but there were plenty of ghoulish creatures a wandering around.

Not really sure of how it all worked, I joined the Q for the "Gothic" house, which
was in the entrance to Twister. The Q snaked out the back of Twister though and out
into the soundstages well outside the normal park boundary (hence why not a lot of
it is visible in the day!).

After a fair wait (the Q was pretty long, maybe 30mins) we snake into a door at the
back of a soundstage and it starts to get interesting. There is a huge facade of a
gothic cathedral sort of thing which you enter through, only to be set upon by hoards
of come-to-life gargoyles and stuff - all very well done and effective. Quite a
big house and quite a lot of monsters, some flying on wires were especially cool.

The Q for Gothic runs alongside the one for the next house round "Dead End" (in fact
they are both housed in the same soundstage and empty into the same exit), so I had
seen the Q for Dead End build up while waiting for Gothic... so I skipped that for
the moment and carried on around the park to the next house...

"The Walking Dead:Dead Inside" is housed behind the "Disaster" attraction and
you enter the Q behind the Beetlejuice theatre (which is being used for a magic show
"20 Penny Circus" during HHN (more on that later). Q was not bad - 10 minutes say.

I'm a big fan of the TV show (looking forward to seson 3 very soon! :) ) so I had a
lot of references as to what was going to be going on in this house (apart from the
rather obvious zombie/walker overload). The house was again really good, with a lot
of set-ups from the TV show in there (even if they ran into each other a bit incongruously
- wandering straight from the opening set hospital into the back of a department store
for example). Full of zombies then, and you end up in the barn from season 2 which was
cool. Exiting onto the street through the "Disaster" entrance there are a few zombies
milling aroung with the crowds outside, which is nice too!

Wandering past the ex-Jaws area at night was not so bad as in the day and I headed onwards
to the next house...

"Penn&Teller:Newkd Vegas" - again I'm P&T fan (seen their real Vegas show a while
back which was great) so was interested in this house too. This is located in a big
tent like structure out back of the Animal Actors stage and you enter up near MiB - theres
a video featuring P&T being projected on the side of MiB while you Q, which is a nice
way of keeping the Q boredom down (although I only Q'd 10-15 mins here and it was still
a bit too light).

8063519777_0eba7d89d3_c.jpg

Upon approaching the tent (its more than a tent really, just looks like a tent, quite big)
you are given a rather flimsly set of 3D glasses (not your usual theme park 3D spex) and
you make your way past someone puking nuclear contamination into an oil-drum and into
the house.

8063522110_de7836ab6f_c.jpg

Well its all a bit weird - played for laughs as well as shocks, and the 3D is fairly odd
(come on, you are walking through a maze, you are already in 3D aren't you?) - lots of
3D patterns on the walls were quite disorientating though. The Total-Recall-like triple
breasted blackjack dealer was a particular highlight of this maze though. Not sure I
really got the story though.

8063522292_f907d171b4_c.jpg

Right then, I think I've got the hang of this haunted house/maze thing by now, so trek
on around to the next one, which is housed in the Woody Woodpecker area, very odd walking
though a darkened Barney-land to approach the next maze;

"Alice Cooper,Welcome to my Nightmare" - housed in another tent, in fact right
next door to the P&T tent even though you approach it from a completely different angle.
I have been known to be partial to a bit of Alice in my time (seen him live a couple of
times) so I was aware of thr refernences in this house too. Wasn't as impressed with
this one to be honest, lots of noise, fair few scares and stuff but just a bit "meh" I
think?

8063522460_0a5d90f1f7_c.jpg

Annoyingly, the exit for Alice Cooper dumps you out back at MiB and so you have to trek
all the way back to Woody-ville for the other maze entered from there (and I've been on
my feet all day by now and was not appreciating the long walks involved in getting to
the mazes!).

So also accessed via darkened kiddy-attractions is "Universal's House of Horrors"
which was housed somewhere out the back near some storage facilities. This was an odd
one - all the monsters were Universal classic monsters (which was quite cool) and the
whole maze was kinda in black&white with lots of strobes - so I thought it worked well
stylistically, if not terribly scarily?

Getting really tired by now, I had 2 mazes left, comparing the Q times posted for the
2 I opted for "Dead End" first and despite the advertised 30min Q this was probably
an hour (which was rather annoying - just when we think we have got to the soundstage
we turn a corner and find a huge full switchback.... grrrr.

Anyway, the house makes up for it - the entrance is in fact a house-front inside the
soundstage and you trek thorugh this proper haunted house, all rather well designed and
full of ghoulish things. Really good then!

Ok only 1 maze left so I enter the Q for "Welcome to Silent Hill" - the Q is
advertised as 60mins but only takes 30, which is nice. Amusingly (to me) I'm in the
Q ahead of a British family (2 older teens and parents) and they appear a bit confused
by everything... so after a little while in the Q Dad asks me "excuse me, what is this?",
"its Silent Hill" I reply, "No, what IS this" he says. "Umm, its a horror maze" says I,
"oh, not a ride then?" - I establish that they have only just entered the park, don't
really know what they are doing and just went into the first Q they saw. Mum was rather
put off by the concept of people jumping out at you and the like, but they goaded her
into it anyway.

I've seen the Silent Hill movie, don't think I've played any of the games though - but
whern you enter you are greeted by the street leading up to the town and some ash-rain
which is all very cool. Then you start being attacked by monsters and stuff, all very
well done and fun.

OK all mazes done, no shows yet though - but I can hardly walk anymore and it seems
like I'd quite like to do them all again so plan to come back fit and fighting another
night and I leave it there.

Forgot to mention the wandering hoards earlier - most of the park is in darkness
and there are several roaming bands of warriors, monstrers, chainsaw wielding (female)
prison inmates and the like that you encounter wandering arounf the park - these were
cool too - although I've read people moaning that they were not as good as previous
"scare zones" I thought they were cool enough!

(more bad pics of HHN when I come back)

BOO! :)

Friday : Animal Kingdom

Right then, after the scary night before, I checked out of hotel #1 (@Downtown Disney)
and set off for a park for the day.

Didn't ride too much here - Everest a couple of times, Dinosaur and the safari a couple
of times. Was planning just to try to take some pics of the animals, but looking at what
I have got, it seems I accomplished taking a lot of rather rubbish pics of the animals.

Heres some less rubbish ones of animals and stuff then.

And a quick process of the fake tree too.

8034480468_b183f14477_c.jpg

Was making my way out of the park just as the parade started (no interest in parades at
all) which was a bit irritating as they make you walk in all the wrong directions to
avoid the parade route, but eventually managed to exit just as the weather started to
"rain on their parade". Ho Ho Ho.

Good timing then as it threw it down for a while then - so I drove up I4 in the rain
and found hotel #2, a rather anonymous Courtyard just off I-drive (which was very nice, if
anonymous, and for "just a room" pretty good and well located - and about 1/2 the price of
the previous one!)

I'm kinda annoyed we just missed out on Universal's Horror Nights, sounds absolutely awesome. Sounds like there is just so much to do, just out of curiosity how much extra was it to do the event?

I love Animal Kingdom, but then again I have a soft spot for epic animal enclosures. Despite the small ride count most of the rides are really awesome too. Totally agree about the Dino USA being the worst Disney area, just reminds me of an ordinary amusement park in the States, but I guess that was the idea?

Looking forward to reading more.

I mentioned this in my thread, but nobody answered.... wasn't there some kind of Bugs Life area at the Animal Kingdom?

I must say, I found Busch rather 'meh'. Yeah it has some awsome coasters, but beyond that, it has nothing.

^ the Bugs Life 3D film-show thingy is underneath the big fake tree at Animal Kingdom, the Bugs Life play area is at Hollywood Studios?

^^ umm hard to say, I had booked some complicated tickets - I paid for a 14-day* Universal bonus pass with HHN upgrade (which the cheapest I could get was £128 from click-here , c/w £92 for the pass without HHN) so I guess that cost me £36 for multi-day entry - general daily admission is $89 but add-on to your park admission is $36. * - I went twice to each park (IoA/US/HHN) so that was OK I thought... but I also bought a HHN express when I went the 2nd time which was $40 (and absolutley worth it - but more of that later)

and here is this evening's on-topic photo-process;

Yeah we went on Its tough to be a Bug at the AK, but I thought there was an actual area, called something like Flicks Funfair? I swear I'm not imagining it!

And isn't that play at Hollywood Studios "Honey I shrunk the Kids"?

There is a bugs land in California could you be thinking of that?

Sorry David did not see your post.

Saturday : Magic Kingdom & Hollywood Studios (again)

Never really being a great fan of hitting up the parks on a Saturday (just because of the
crowds and my general loathing of other people), I trek off this Saturday morning to
re-visit the busiest theme park on the planet. But my plan is just to wander around the
place with the camera and not worry much about the other people and the rides.

I did try to take some inside shots of Pirates, setting the ISO up high and the aperture
out wide ; but even then turned out pretty rubbish (hard to get focus in the gloom).

So a calm enough wander around the park gets me to mid-afternoon and a quick round trip
on the monorail (just for the hell of it).

Saturday Part 2 : Hollywood Studios

So by mid-afternoon I had wandered enough of the MK and so made my way to the Studios
for a couple of hours - don't think I actually realised that the studios shut at 6 on
Saturdays (whats that all about?), but this did end up working in my favour as the place
was relatively quiet and got much quieter as we got up towards closing...

8082837906_8f6d66c79d_c.jpg

Anyway didn't do too much (since I had been here a few days earlier without the camera to
get all my rides in :) ) apart from taking some pics to play around with...

The stunt show was running, so watched that since its reasonably good (read rumnours of
them removing this though, not sure thats a great idea this has massive capacity)

RRC

AT-AT

So as the place emptied out, I hit up the Tower, expecting little queues. In fact it
was better than that because there was zero queue in the lobby and you were walking
straight into the pre-show room.

However, I didn't actually want to do that, I wanted to linger in the Lobby taking some
pictures. I had singularily FAILED to take any good pictures in the various ToT Lobbys
I had tried it in with a P&S camera (here, Ca, Paris) but this time I was aremed with
the DSLR and a tripod of sorts (a little SLR gorilla-pod - in hindsight could have got away
with a full tripod and got some even better snaps).

So after the greeter/CM spots what I'm up to we have a chat ('cos he is bored with no
punters and quite happy for me to be doing what I'm doing) and he is quite happy to let
me wander anywhere I like in the lobby (i.e. off behind the ropes if I like) to take my
snaps. What a nice chap.

I actually don't take him up on going into the 'set' because of the limitiations of the
gorilla-pod (in that I need to attach it to something solid to get the stability I need
- I am taking 30s exposures at this point - and I could not see anything flat/solid enough
that would help me out)

But I do get to spend a while taking a fair few pics in there, which did make me happy.

The Lobby

The Lobby 2

The Lobby 3

The Lobby 4

The Lobby 5

So eventually I've had my photo-fun and head into the pre-show (along with the about
half a dozen other people who had turned up). And when the pre-show is done, the CMs
stop me and ask if I'd like them to hold the room for me so I could take some pics in
there - how nice was that? I had the same issue though, nowhere to secure the gorilla-pod
so I didn't take them up on it - in hindsight a proper tripod and I would have done
or perhaps I should have just stuck it on the floor (the "Lobby 5" pic above is off the
floor so that probably would have worked OK).

So thats my top-tip for the holiday ; want to take pics in the Tower's lobby, then turn
up when its very quiet / end of the day and DO take a tripod and they will let you have
your fun! (Mike if he's reading might expand on that policy???)

Took a few pics outside too;

Hollywood Tower

To the Tower
And I have only had to clone out a couple of lingering peeps from that ^ one;

So it was now past closing, everywhere was locking up and everyone was heading out.
A cool couple of hours at the studios for me there then! :)

I was never trained for the Lobby merge point, so don't really know, but from the sounds of it you had a nice CM who was probably bored out of their mind... I can definitely think of a few CMs who definitely wouldn't let you walk into the main lobby area! :p Anyone can just stop and take a few pictures though...

^ yep he was clearly bored! :--D

Sunday : HHN (again)

After having "done" HHN on Thursday, I was still up for a bit more so I planned to go
back on the Sunday (my ticket didn't let me in on the Saturday). Figured I do it a bit
different on the Sunday though, since the first time I was rather dead-on-my-feet at the
end of a long day and so I had quit at about 930, but more to the point, I was driving back
to the hotel afterwards. My Sunday plan was to not do anything much in the day, head up
to Universal late afternoon for some food and then express-pass HHN in the evening and
take a taxi both ways to allow the opportunity of a beer or two.

So after a daytime trip to the outlet stores, thats just what I did.

Had some food at the Hard Rock Cafe [ MAJOR DIGRESSION - does anyone on here remember the old
Hard Rock Cafe that existed just down the road in the pre-Universal Resort (i.e. before
CityWalk and IoA existed) days? I had been there on my first ever Orlando visit back in
~94 ; it was a big guitar shaped building (the neck of the guitar extending over the
road as a walkway/bridge sort of thing to the car-park area (roughly where the Hard Rock
Hotel sits now). The building was still there last time I was in Orlando 2 years ago but
it has gone now (a quick Google indicates October last year) - before then you could still
see it sitting at the back of the Studios' Fievel's Playground "hidden" from sight by a
few bushes and stuff. Anyway, my long rambling point was just; wasn't that odd? ...but its
gone now!]

I live my life the other side of this sign...
8085716069_332e80fd49_c.jpg

The HHN Express-pass was $40 (and they vary the price of this depending on the night, think
the Saturday night was twice that much!) and this gets you one-time front-of-line (almost)
access to all the attractions (except HRRR for some reason).

8085715072_44f0cd2268_c.jpg

So my general plan was to get a few houses done using the regular queues before they
built up too much, catch the shows and then use the Express-pass to hit the rest of the
place. (Good plan I thought!)

And I tried to take some pics this time too.

8085716185_6f230d2923_c.jpg

8085716321_aa37883f03_c.jpg

You can tell that the still-daylight kinda kills the spookiness a bit in these early
shots!

But the twlight was interesting too...
8085715542_3bcbd2e20a_c.jpg

But most of the big houses are inside dark enough places to be OK, so first up I hit
the general Q for Dead End again (since this was the biggest Q I had hit the previous
time) - straight in once they had opened up - cool!

8085715472_b6b387730e_c.jpg

8085715696_a7fe50f976_c.jpg

And then I took the general Q for the Walking Dead - barely anyone in the Q ahead of
me and we got got to see the next hoard of zombies arriving for work (later in the evening
that whole cattle-pen in this pic was rammed).

8085716725_6473ae3993_c.jpg

8085716807_83e1fcc0ee_c.jpg

So actually the Walking Dead maze was the daftest one to do in daylight, since some of it
is open to the skies (all the other mazes are totally enclosed), but I did get the rather
spendid effect of as I exitted the maze all the zombies that were walking past in the Q
had gathered at the exit before they went into the set - so you actually exited right into
a huge hoarde of zombies - excellent stuff (this was much more than the usual amount
of zombies that hung around at the exit).

8085715908_69154a383c_c.jpg

8085715988_4611552a4e_c.jpg

Hit up the first show next, which was OK - funny in places but not fantastic.

8085717073_6235504eca_c.jpg

And straight away I got the Bill&Ted show too - no pics allowed in there (they were
actively going around telling people to delete pictures if they spotted them taking
any!). Back in the day (the day when Bill&Ted were current movies that is) I was a BIG
fan so was actually really looking forward to this!

8085759942_a9e66bd1e2_c.jpg

Anyway, really quite like the show - lots of US-references I didn't get, but lots of
little things that made me laugh - so really good then! "Excellent"!

By then, it had got dark and the Q's were building up so I started using the express-pass.
Hit up Alice Cooper first, and then since its exit was up by Penn&Teller I did that
(interestingly there was still a 15 minute Q even with the express-pass which caused a
lot of confusion amongst the peeps who kept trying to walk to the front only to be told
that everyone in that Q had an express-pass).

8085717167_a059c54a0a_c.jpg

The lake in the middle of the park, whilst not doing anything specific, was routinely
pumping out smoke and spooky lighting and stuff, which made for a bit of a distraction
whilst on a beer-break.

8085717549_c70e9d9360_c.jpg

Worked my way around the rest of the mazes on my Express-pass (and did Silent Hill in
the regular Q as well) as well as re-doing the mazes that had I had done earlier without
the pass. Walking Dead was better in the dark though - the regular Q was HUGE when
I redid it later on the express-pass - totally worth it then that pass!

8085716766_8bb8f7bd14_c.jpg

Ended up at the event until closing (midnight), just wandering around between mazes
and having a few beers. Great stuff - thoroughly enjoyed it again.

Photos are all a bit rubbish though I think, lots of noise and high-ISO white-spots on most
of these shots, problem was if you turn on the flash then they are even worse;

Monday : IoA/US (again)

So after my scary times the night before, I went back to Universal on the Monday, this
time armed with the proper camera intending just to take a load of pictures and wander
about for the day - think I might have only rode one thing all day (Simpsons) but
seemed to occupy myself quite well until the thunderstorms hit at 4pm.

Not too much to report on today (and I have not started to do anything with many of
the pics yet) so heres just some random shots through the day.
