Last year I visit Portaventura & in the SesamoAventura area I saw a lot of "Big Bird" faces as part of the themeing in the buildings. But I was disappointed not to see Big Bird as part of the children's show or the evening parade.

Does Portaventura have the licence to have the Big Bird costume..?

Usually a costumed Sesame Street character will be Elmo or maybe Grover. Big Bird is a very unusual sized costume/puppet compared to 99% of the others, even across other companies. Usually, Entertainment has women of smaller stature wearing most of the costumes, (with exceptions) and IIRC, Big Bird's puppeteer is over 6 feet tall. Plus all them feathers? It's got to be one of the most difficult costumes to maintain.

To be fair, the original was 8ft tall and that's not that large for costumed characters. Every character costume takes a lot of upkeep and costs a fortune to maintain (the company I work for own some of these costumes).

My guess is; they bought a couple of costumed characters and don't need the necessity of having them all so they didn't buy them all. There are Big Bird Costumes available from several online suppliers. Not to mention that PA's art department would be able to create one by hand to perfection.
