Phantasialand close 'Western City' area

Oh, good, they were pretty crap Log Flumes.

ommggg, new ride at Phantasia... ommmggg. Hope it's a cred, want an excuse to go back <3

Always sad to see old rides go, but that area did stick out like a sore thumb. It was really gross and in dire need to a face lift. And what better way to do that than to scrap it and to start again!

Although, I don't get how they're going to keep the Michael Jackson mine train to fit in with a new theme? Or maybe they'll just keep and random little patch of 'western' themed area so that ride remains relevant. We'll see.

Those log flumes were pretty burdenous. I'd guess that, whatever they replace them with, will continue the western theme? Haven't they only just got one of those little bouncy tower things that's Western themed and shoe-horned into a tiny gap round there somewhere?

Just because I've never been, out of curiosity, how big was the area?

It's very hard to say because, as with most of Phantasialand, the area felt very enclosed. Not as in inside, but as in you can't see much else other than what is immediately around you. Which is good, immersive theming and all that. I didn't actually go on the log flume, I know a few others did, but from what I remember the western area is sort of an L shape (a tight one at that) that leads to where the new mouse ride and the chairswing are, which was quite a large, open piece of the park. Difficult to gauge.

When I went, I didn't particulary like this area. It wasn't clear what was what and I went in just for the log flume and nothing else. There was an enterence to something that looked like to the top spin but it just wasn't clear.

This is most likely to be a retheme though but with something good replacing the log flume.

The log flume was churning out the FOULEST water. I remember a few of us just standing by talocan and VOMMING over the flumes.

But yeah, The two little bounce tower things we just places next to the Mine train, which was a fab mine train, but not exactly hard to change the theme of it IMO.

I read about this the other day too. I thought I'd scan some of the German forums I stalk every now and then and came across this:

What I just put Onride have found:

Hello my lover crazy Park
I have a new information (directly from the source) and have just tortured me through the first 10 pages of this issue in order to know whether the news is already known. I wonder if there is any truth in it?
Overall it appears no one seems to know what is actually going on in terms of what is going to be replaced and if it will be a new theme etc. Let the speculation continue! :D

EDIT 2: Lol, looks like the log flum ain't re-opening :P

2013 - Western City Replacement - In Progress - (1/16/12) The latest rumors from Phantasialand indicate that the eventual replacement for the removed log ride is expected to be a new highly themed water ride of some kind to open in 2013. The ride is said to feature both indoor and outdoor sections, and is likely to interweave with sections of the Colorado Adventure coaster, much like the Wildwasserbahn that it will replace. The rumors are not specific about what kind of ride this may be… if it could just be a more modern flume ride or perhaps something more like a water coaster style ride, though it just might have more of a Mexican theme.

Small update of what is possibly going on here. Will be nice to see the old log flume replaced with a newer water ride as opposed to just being demolished.
