Old School Segaworld tour thing

So apparently the Trocadero in London is closing next week to make way for a hotel. Good. The place has gone to **** and is full of crap stalls selling phone cases imported from China. But it was quite good once, there was a drop tower, ghost train, dodgers and a **** load of simulators.

Theme Park Tourist posted this virtual tour of the place as it looked in the 90s, I thought it was a pretty cool throwback if anybody fancies a read and a bit of a trip down nostalgia lane:

It's annoying because the place has the potential to be epic (again) but it sounds like the owners are just utter idiots.

From what I've read the hotel is meant to be a cheap hotel based on Japanese pod hotels although from the description it sounds like they've only stayed at a F1 hotel in France and not an actual pod hotel.

It's such a shame to see a massive building just being mis-used for so many years. Sad face.

I only went the once in 1993 or 1994, with Alien War in the basement and a handful of Virtuality machines. I don't remember Sega being there at all, so I assume it was before Sega World opened.

I remember it [Trocadero] being something everyone was really talking about at the time as "the next big thing", but there was very little of interest when I went beyond the basement.

Never played the games as they were far to expensive.

I popped in there once about 3 or 4 years ago, just out of curiosity since I'd walked past it loads of times and never bothered. It was dreadful.

As much as we might not like it, a hotel/hostel/whatever in that prime location, will bring in WAY more money than what's currently festering in there. Good move from a business perspective.
