New Vekoma 4-Abreast Trains

I really like those trains.

Restraints remind me of Air which arn't the best, but in a sitting position I can see it being good. I just hope they can make the track less jolty because with wider trains the side seats may be a bit uncomfortable.

This part.

I can't imagine how much these could suck if there's as much slop that some of the SLCs have.

Hmm I quite like them I think they look good. As long as they can sort the roughness some of their coasters have then Vekoma should definitely start to get better.

I thought they'd changed the way they made their track recently to make rides smoother? The Singapore duelers look different to anything they've done before.

Honestly, I don't think that Vekoma's designs were/are ever the problem.

It's always been the huge tolerance for error in the manufacturing process that is to blame, IMHO.

I've seen SLCs where the upstop wheels, when sitting at rest in the station, are close enough to the rail that you cannot even see the gap. I've seen others where you can stick your whole hand in the gap and not even touch the wheel and the rail at the same time.

Guess which ones were painful?

Neither Intamin nor B&M ever seem to allow such shoddy product to be sold with their name on it.

Vekoma restraints generally suck. Regardness of roughness, SLC restraints (say, Infusion) close you in way too much for my liking. B&M are simple, good and effecient.

Vekoma could easily rival B&M, they just need that secret ingrediant that Disney put into Everest and put that into all of their coasters.

Until that happens, I'm highly doubt just expanding the width of the trains will do anything. I can't really amke out the restraints, but surely that's a step in the right direction? If I can't make them out that can't be that big and bulky.

But the new restraint system like the ones on Carolina Cobra seems to have had good feedback so far. The headbanging has been removed, plus gives a more open feel to the cars.

I was reading an article a while back on these newer train models (at the time, the pics were vague conceptual pics- these ones are more refined) and Vekoma claiming that "The new trains will have very strict manufacturing tolerances- something they admittedly lacked before" or something along those lines.

So hopefully they'll live up to their claims- I'd love to start to see some smooth Vekomas popping up :D

Is it only me who prefer the vekoma OTSR?? I think B&M makes really uncomfy restraints..

To begin with B&M OTSR are really low meaning that a tall person like myself (1.86 m) have to keep their back bent during the whole ride and will get a lot of bruises on the shoulders (while vekomas are built for tall people too). Further B&M are quite firm meaning that on occasions you actually hit the restraints it hurts (while vekomas are soft and don't hurt as much).

My personal favourite type of restraints are Intamin cuz they both are tall and provide an unobstructed view, but the new carolina cobra-version of the vekomas look very interesting!!

Will the pricetag rise now since thay're manufacuring high quality rides? Or they maybe will keep their old SLC design for parks that want a cheaper alternative?? Cuz otherwise they will leave a big gap in the market!

Anyway I love to see some competition in the premium segment hence B&M has been on top of the throne for way too long on the inverter and mega looper market! Not that I dislike B&M but they're just doing the same old things over and over again, it is always nice to see some new fresh blood!
