What's new

New project for Mack Rides

Oh I am so hoping this is for the UK, I highly doubt it though, Thorpe are the only ones due a coaster of that size soon, and I would have thought Thorpe would have hyped it up soon... I can see this being for the Phantasialand project. Could this be their Hyper Coaster design? What could be different enough for them to say they're taking it up a level?

The way their saying taking it to the next 'level' implies that they could be going to new heights, therefore a 200ft+ coaster sounds promising :--D . Although, I guess new level could mean pretty much anything.

As it's Mack announcing it though, I'm not sure they're going to announce where whatever there announcing is going yet.

If I was pushed to take a wild stab at wherever this possible Mack hyper could go, I would say Toverland (DON'T SHOOT ME!!! :p )

I have heard rumours about Toverland getting a 'mega coaster' before.

Breaking the 200 ft. mark would definitely count as taking it to the next level.

A mack hyper in Toverland would be a dream come true, but somehow I just doubt the park has enough money. It is always so quiet in the park, even during summer months, and they've already had a big expansion in 2013.

^ It may not be a viable option for next year, but I wouldn't surprised if some sort of 'mega coaster' turned up within the next few years.

I've even seen rumors of a mack coaster in Walibi Holland on a dutch theme park forum, which seems highly unlikely to me, but I guess it's worth mentioning.

Apparently:
-The staff of Walibi has visited Europa Park and ridden Blue Fire to check it out, and afterwards they've visited Mack (was on twitter)
-A dutch political party has given a big amount of money to the park
-Walibi has confirmed that there will be a big ride in 2016
-On their facebook page, they've shared multiple videos of mega coasters and asked what people thought of them.

If this would be true, it won't be a hyper probably though, considering Goliath is already in the park.

Uhh exciting!

As some of you already have mentioned, Toverland is indeed a possible location for this.
I too have heard rumors about them getting a mega for 2015.
And about them not having enough money, I think I read somewhere that the guys who owned the place had plenty of money ready to be invested in the park.

^^ Nah, they'll probably just end up re-painting/re-theming Goliath as they're getting really good at that stuff :)

Seriously though, Walibi parks like never add anything new. If Walibi were to get something from Mack, it probably wouldn't be a mega or launch coaster because those bases are covered. They may get a spinner, despite there being one at Toverland which could work well. Or (God forbid) they may get another mouse to replace the Flying Dutchman they used to have

Another thought on this Mack announcement. I remember at IAPPA 2013, Mack saying that they'd love to take the launch system on a water ride. I find it unlikely, but I'd absolutely LOVE to see this happen.

I think he might be right, as both Walibi parks -Belgium and Holland- have both announced to open a big new ride for 2016. Walibi Holland visited Europa Park, whilst Belgium browsed around in three British parks, one of them being Alton Towers.

But isn't it to soon to release a project for 2016 in 2014?

Could it not just be the lewa world mega coaster. Seen the top down layout in the park plans and we know it's coming but seen no proper 3d layout yet and it's due to have the world's tallest loop.

^ That would be disappointing. I really hope it's somewhere where I can actually ride it someday :p .

It's not a new coaster, not yet.

From Mack's Facebook.

Today we want to share with you an exciting concept study about the VR Coaster: Feel the forces of a real rollercoaster while being immersed in a completely different world. Can you think of an environemt you would like to ride through?

Personally I think it's a neat idea that has a ton of potential.

I actually love the headset idea. Don't know how they would use it on a real coaster though.

Not what I was expecting, but quite interesting and very 'Mack' like. Not sure I'd want to wear a headset on a coaster though :?

Sad that it isn't a new ride but it sounds like the potential for this could be huge. Intrigued if they will take this concept further now.
