Nemesis Construction Photos

Nemesis Inferno

Strata Poster
Of course we take the internet for granted nowadays, and are able to follow the construction of any new ride rather easily with just a few clicks...

BUT, let's cast our minds back to 1993, when the internet was not as essential to our lives... (Ironic for me to say this since I was only 3 at the time I know :p), but coaster enthusiasts back then couldn't easily find images of Nemesis being constructed...

Screamscape however has given us a link to Facebook where someone has 160 odd construction photos of Nemesis in varying degrees of construction, and indeed, it looks rather interesting...

Enjoy...

Erm... I remember when the WWW was invented just before that point - it was a major thing, much bigger news than Nemesis

Anyway! I hate to sound all fanboy, but those images are really, really fantastic. What a nice surprise for a Monday morning :)

They are really cool photos, it shows how much it has changed and how much the scenery has changed as well seeing as there was hardly any trees there compared to today and the rock was a lot brighter. Good find!

My point was more of that it was a very different kettle of fish back then than it is now... ;)

Wow!

I was born in 1992, so this is cool.

The pictures are fantastic. There are some classic Wardley pictures! I also find it interesting that the track was blue when it arrived. Did Alton do the paint-job themselves?

^Lol, yeah I noticed that too. It said 'Invered' instead of 'Inverted'.
Alton_spelling_fail :p

Anyway, nice find. Those photos were ace!

I was born in 1991 - I don't remember clothes in '93 being so...erm...stylish.

Ah yes, I saw these a few days ago.

It's nice to see how the legend was born, and amazing quality photos as well. They're almost as good quality as most digital cameras nowadays

Those were really nice to see, still there are a few people that I recognise among those images...

About the track, it looks like they were delivered with just a coat with primer, and then Alton painted it the way they wanted it...

Great find there. Some great shots. The shots of the area were quite good as well, not having ever been to the park before 2006.

On this topic, I like the way that the track is painted with a rather interesting camo-style scheme originally...

Awesome shots. I never knew how they did most of it, so it was really an eye opener in some cases.. and it looks so just bland at first. Bravo on AT's part.

Oh from a time when construction could be kept secret I remember them days lol. I remember Nemesis being built heck I can even remember when that area was car park lol.

The construction site was kept well covered even the mono rail was not used so you could not see.

Great pictures, great find.

^I was just thinking about seeing Nemesis for the first time, in its opening year, from the monorail.

The year before there was nothing there, and then to suddenly see Nemesis on the next visit: just WOW. I wasn't an enthusiast back then, but you could still tell just how major it was. Just looking at it scared the **** out of me.

I think Oblivion was done like that too., and painted the track on-site.

You can see they've painted parts but you can still see the metal with primer.

I thought they're trying hard to keep Thirteen pretty secret.

Yep but with Nemesis you did not have a clue until near the end, I think a lot to do with that was that there was only Batman and that was only built a bit before.

Even though they tried with 13 a lot of people worked it out and saw the layout. With Nemesis you did not have a clue as plans were not on the internet.

I mean worked out that it would have a drop.

I sort of prefered the good old days where as with Nemesis you did not have a clue, when Thunder Looper was just there one year and not the year before etc.

I do not even remember adverts for Thunder Looper tbh.

lol, delete your CF account and don't use the internet then... same effect.
