My summer

I was traveling with family in Europe this summer, and I really lapsed in terms of staying in touch around here. But now I have time for a very quick summary at the very least. The summer was amazing — so many beautiful places! That said, it wasn’t too heavy on the coasters. I believe I got 34 new credits, to give you a sense.

I mostly went to parks with my nephews, so a lot of places I had been before but they hadn’t. Let’s see if I can name the parks: Europa Park, Klotten, Phantasialand, Walibi Belgium, Movie Park Germany, Tripsdrill, Holiday Park, Walygator, Conny-Land, Thorpe Park, and Chessington. Probably the standout for me in terms of coasters was my improved opinion of Expedition GeForce. Oh, and Cobra at Conny-Land was much weirder and more intense than I expected.

One big bummer was that at the end of the trip (at the last park!) I got a concussion, my third now, albeit a mild one. The funny thing is the two previous ones were on two of the most intense coasters in the world (i305 and Ride to Happiness) whereas this was on Mandrill Mayhem! 😂. They say that once you get a concussion, it gets easier and easier to get more. The good news is the i305 one lasted two and a half months and was severe, the RtH one lasted four to five days and was just unpleasant, but this last one lasted about a day and a half and it was so slight that I probably wouldn’t have paid it much attention if I hadn’t known the symptoms from before. So, not the end of the world, but one thing is clear in terms of what a neurologist told me: if you get a concussion, make sure you don’t ride again until it has totally gone away. That makes it hard to plan future long-term coaster trips with lots of parks as I can never know what might disrupt everything. Ugh.

OK, well, I hope this finds you all well!
