My "Movie Themed" park - Not as bad as it sounds!

Hey guys, haven't really been on RCT3 scince the CF christmas competition. But i've spent a few days now on a new park. Its supposed to have themed areas to movies. The ones which i have concentrated so far on are Indiana Jones and Batman.

Heres the entrance to the park:

Ok, now a couple of screens from the Indiana Jones section. In this section is a wooden wild mouse type ride, and a funky flat thing that i though suited the area well. Both have attempted theming ;) :

And now the Gotham area, with an Extended coaster, and Swat thing. Both again, attempted at themeing. I tried to make both the 'nice" side of Gotham, and the 'Dirty' Side:

So, tell me what you think. Im planning on working on this up until the end of this Uni term. So its going to expand alot. I think you can see the next section im wokring on in the background.

I'm going to use some gentle rides for the next section, which will be themed to Beetlejeuce (Beetlejuice). So im hoping to do some funky things with it.

It's looking excellent so far Dave. Not keen on the temple by the Indiana Jones ride, but the Gotham area is lush!

Can't wait for an update :)

Just done a few more things....sorry it takes me so long, but i don't really play RCT 3 that much.

Created, but not entirely themed "Cool Runnings", a Racing Bobsled type coaster... Could be seen as a tad short, but i think it does the job well:

I know that the track lengths arent equal, but to compensate for this, i have slightly changed the speeds on the lift hills.

Apart from this, i havent really done anything, i have built a new Woddie, but i havent done anything with it yet. Also added are a chairlift, teacups ride, and few other little things...

Nice park! I like the racing bobsleds, world's first, isn't it? I also like the mountain terrian, it goes well with the ride. I also like the wooden coaster. The part before the helix and the helix doesn't look realistic, however, I don't know if you are going for realism.
Overall, I like it!

Wow, some awesome comments there! I think ill give a response to each one in turn...

Firstly... i am going for SOME realism, but i find that if i try to be too realistic, it kinda just takes away the fun of the game for me.... So i just play around until i find something that i like, not necessarily something that would work in the real world. For example.. if i run out of some space for brakes at the end of the ride, i normally just end it, because if i went and changed the end of the ride just to add brakes, it kinda takes away from the fun aspect for me, and then it just turns into effort.

1. Ok, the black B&M isnt a B&M.. its an extended coaster. So my trains are 2 cars long. When designing this coaster i wanted to have the MCBR so that capacity wouldnt be so low. So i have one block section in that small building at the beginning of the ride, one after the air time hill , and then finally one at the end of the ride, and obviously in the station.
I've found that having these means that i can run 3 trains with no problem of stacking so far (although, knowing RCT, when this ride becomes unpopular, then i'll start having issues.) So, because of this, PERSONALLY i will not be changing this particular coaster layout.

2. The bobsleds... I really did'nt colour them to DD. I liked the look of how the colours came out kind of Pale, and thought this complemented the snow well. What i am thinking to do with this however is take out that sweeping first drop, and add some more elements to the beginning of the ride. Therefore extending the length, whilst adding a more "downhill race" approach to the ride. Also, i understand that even though they "race", riders will never see eachother. But from a spectator point of view, maybe i could make use of the racing idea and make some kind of grandstand....

3. The wooden coaster wasn;t really going to stay... its just something i built when i was playing the game last week and though.... hey, i'll just see what people think. At some point my park will have a wooden coaster, but it will be more compact, and entirly "twister" based.

4. Thanks ;)

I think, looking more ahead, i have around a third of the park space left to use. So im thinking 2 more coasters, and around 4 more flats.

Also, i don't know if i mentioned or not. But each area has its own music, and when viewing the park, it really adds to is. Also there is a fireworks display choreographed to the Top Gun theme, which is pretty awesome..

Cheers for the comments!

I don't really know what to say.
The added parts of the bobsled looks uneven, the blue track is much longer than the red track. This doesn't really look tidy but well done for having a go, it's really hard to add parts to a rollercoaster without having to scrap half of the ride first.
The wooden coaster's layout looks good, but the colour doesn't, unless it is just the pictures. I think that the ride needs more themeing too.
I like the waterfall next to the wooden coaster, however the crossbeams sort of ruin it.
Well done for the work that you have done. Thanks for the update, I can't wait for the next one.

The chain lifts on the bobs now run at the same speed. And the red comes in about 1/4 of a train infront. So, the tracks arent that much different length wise, i think its just an awkward pic. Also, the red side has two large corners at the beginning, wheras the blue has 3 small corners.
What i tried to do was make the tracks a tiny bit individual.. and when viewing the ride, it works really well.

Woodies are hard for me, becuase i cant really distiguish between browns, greens and reds very well. I'm slightly colourblind, so i don't really know what colours i have made it...

The waterfalls are going to hopefully play a part later on, along with those beams i have placed.....

Just something else i've been working on in the park.

Its one of those tower coaster things, called "Towering Inferno". There are two main sections to the ride, 4 inversions. I'm really liking creating this one. It backs on to the Gotham area, so the buildings fit in, along with the rest of the theme.

You know that "The Towering Infero" can be anagrammed into "Not worth fire engine"?

I like the first building and the overall layout, but I hope you add several more buildings. If you pull this off completely, it will look awesome.

I like the towering Inferno idea - very neat :)

For the woodie, I'm not keen on the start. I'm sure I'll be corrected, but generally, your station sits 180 degrees round from the lift hill. So you leave the station, turn 180 degrees, then run up the lift hill. It stops the one side of the coaster from being exceptionally long and straight :)

On a twister style woodie, this is quite important aesthetically I think.

Colours on it look fine to me too ;)

Towering Inferno looks brilliant! I like the way the you are using different ride types than just common ones. It's hard to create ride types that havn't been built in real life because you don't know the boundaries of realism for those specific types. But the ride looks brilliant, well done! The building fits well with the theme and the layout looks realistic. My only worry is the section inbetween the two corkscrews, it looks painfull.
Can't wait to see more!

This is a screen from last week, and it has changed a tiny bit. For example, that last corner has been made larger, and circles a new building. As well as a few other buildings around. Such as one that encloses half of that CobraRoll. Also it is now landscaped.

When i get back home later this afternoon, ill upload the new screens. Quite alot has changed now.

Cheers for the comments :)

Heres some updated pics of Towering Inferno.

I have added a couple more buildings, and have started to alter the terrain.

Towering Inferno looks great. The additional buildings make the ride look better and more interesting. The section between the two corkscrews could have a building as well so that buildings are spaced out and not in one block?
Looks good so far, keep it up!

Its been a long month scince i last did anything on this, but its been christmas, and i've had a few assignments to do. But i've finally had some time to do some more work on this.

So far i have simply added a few extra things to Towering Inferno, and have linked it into the gotham area.

UC, i agree that some elements of this ride are similar to Gotham, and the themeing seems similar too. But this wasnt intentional, but tbh, i think both "areas" compliment eachother quite well. So im not going to be changing anything in that respect.

Also, heres an overview of the entire park as it stands atm:

Just a couple of new screens:

A nearly finished Towering Inferno:

And a new water ride, but this might not be staying:

Wow that looks really good! I like the new buildings for Towering Inferno, it really comes together nicely.

The splash boats ride is pretty good. The scenery is great, it looks like you put a lot of hard work into it.
