Music and Roller coasters

Over the 2012 season, on my visits to Kings Dominion and Hershey Park, I noticed a couple of riders who strapped their iPods to their arms and listened to the song of their choice while on i305 and Fahrenheit. The ride ops didn't seem to care, most likely since the iPods were securely strapped to the riders arms. My question is, have any of you ever done this? If you have, which song do you think, fit best with that particular ride? Even if you haven't done this, what song do you think would fit best with a certain ride?

^I went with Kickstart My Heart by Motley Crue for Rip, Ride, Rockit. I didn't know what songs I could pick through on Rip, Ride, Rockit and I had a dream the night before I was on the ride and Kickstart My Heart was playing and when I got on the ride the next day and saw it I freaked out. lol

That's strange because I've seen the ride ops for I305 make people take off their ear-buds even though their iPods were securely fastened. I've also seen ride ops do this at other parks, especially Six Flags.

The rider who took his iPod on i305 didn't put his earbuds in until the train started to make its way out of the station. With Fahrenheit the same thing occurred. He didn't put his earbuds in until the train was moving.

Wouldn't wearing earbuds be dangerous while riding a coaster?
Onboard music is cool though and I do enjoy it if its timed, as it brings a sense of drama along with the ride.

^This.

I can't see wearing earbuds on a coaster being a fun experience, especially on one with OTSR like Fahrenheit.

Seems like you'd be going to a lot of trouble & potentially risking the loss of your iPod to add a relatively minimal amount to the overall experience.

The music of those purring wheels on the train is all I need. <3

Yeah listening to your own music whilst on the ride just seems needless, the only time your own music is required on theme park days is in the car journeys, nothing irritates me more than a group of young girls playing music through their phones with no headphones, I don't want to listen to Rihanna whilst queuing for Nemesis.

Not my problem when their phone dies and they can't call their mommy.

The only time I've really been tempted to listen to music is while in the queue line, but some parks I go to don't have a good signal at all so I can't use Pandora while in line. I also like to keep my phone alive incase of emergencies.

In my limited experience with music on coasters I've never found it to make much of a difference unless done perfectly or if the ride relies upon it, so it seems strange that people would go to the hassle of adding it to a ride that wasn't designed to have music playing.
