Macromedia Fireworks

At the moment I am using Photoshop to make my sigs etc. As you know it's not the best program for that sort of thing, so I want to get Macromedia fireworks, anyone know where I can download/buy the full version?

What's wrong with Photoshop?

Fireworks is an Adobe product now, by the way.

Fireworks is more of a design/layout type program, whereas Photoshop is better at photo manipulation and image processing. Surely Photoshop is better for creating sigs and things?

I use Microsoft Paint to do mine <3

If you didn't have Photoshop, I'd suggest you use GIMP. But you do, and it's pretty much exactly the same... but free.

I find Fireworks much easier than Photoshop. Photoshop never does what I want it to and it's quite complicated and you have to go through all these menus to do something.
Fireworks is quick and simple and great for using to make sets for forums. Everything can be done in a few clicks and finding things is much easier.

If you actually know how to use photoshop properly (ie, not just make forum sets) then making forum sets on it becomes a piece of cake. Might as well learn the one (WAY more versatile and useful) program properly.

I've used both photoshop and fireworks, and I find fireworks is a lot easier to make forum sets and other, more design related stuff. Photoshop is more of a photo editing software.

Photoshop <3

Entering that quick mask couldn't be more fun...

Software piracy is theft - just in case anyone was concerned about openly admitting to doing it on a public forum, one where there are links to an official website

I hate GIMP. There's always a "learning curve" with any image manipulation tool you use. I've used about 7 or 8 over the last decade to do any manipulation I need (including Photoshop). I've only ever reached a point of "I give up, I just can't do it" with GIMP, never with any of the others. None are intuitive, but they all generally function similarly. GIMP just loathes doing anything. I hate the way it's "floating" too, give me a solid workspace.

It probably comes down to lack of experience with it, I don't spend enough time with it. However, if I can't do basic manipulation of an image in a few minutes (or see a way of doing what I want), then I just don't want to use that package. GIMP sits there happily mocking me for failing to be able to use, where I can do the exact same tasks on nearly a dozen different packages quickly.

I use Fireworks for quick banners and logos. Tend to only use Photoshop for website mock-ups.

Interesting, I thought their main features were orientated at the opposite!

I only really use Photoshop when I know I'm going to be working with a lot of layers.
