Here is the trip report you have all been waiting for! While others are spending thousands going to Dubai, or Hong Kong, or wherever, RtotheIzzo and his clan went to Lowry Park Zoo for his son's 1st birthday! The following report contains animals, halloween decorations, animal ****, and a +1 !!!!

It was a picture perfect day in the Bay area, and the park was empty upon park open. It got busier later in the day, but we were on our way out by then. After walking in the gates and picking up a map, we were instructed to watch out for a parrot parade. They said dont worry the birds were low but not that low, they lied as one of them clipped me on the way by.

After the close encounter with the bird we made our way to the back of the park for animals and stuff. The zoo has a bit of a weird layout as they expanded, which basically requires you to do two laps around the park to see everything. On the way to the back we stopped to see outdoor penguins. Despite the trainers explaining these penguins were from South Africa and used to 80 degrees, the white trash family from Polk City asked how they could survive without snow. :redhotevil:

After watching the penguins get hand fed it was off to the most important part of my day, the cred!

It was a POS kiddie coaster that gave you three laps. I marveled at how a coaster with a top speed of 15mph could feel like it would hurdle me to death around the helix. Alas, that is the price we pay for our hobby. After the cred was a crap petting zoo.

We went from the zoo to the African safari themed area to get on a tram pulled by this:

It was an 18 min ride that took you through the safari exhibit. To be honest, you see all the same animals, closer, during the walk through so I would probably skip it next time.

Afterwords we attempted to eat at the parks full service restaurant, which "over looked the savanahha", but got spited by a VIP party that was renting it out. Instead we hand fed some Giraffes for $3, during which one of the males attempted sexual intercourse with an uninterested female (otherwise known as a typical date with any CF member), and walked back across the park for burgers at the main quick service.

The park had a weird cross of family friendly, and "adult" Halloween stuff up. I took some pics of that, then did the "double loop" taking random pics of any animals that could be found. Several exhibits were closed, or had nocturnal animals that were in hiding. The park also had a carousal and a log flume, but we got spited by the log flume.

Overall Lowry Park is a very good zoo. It has a great variety of animals, and is pretty big considering the price tag of $25. The food was also reasonable priced, about $10 a meal which included fries and a drink. Hope you enjoyed this exciting report!

In all honesty I really enjoy seeing reports from smaller unknown to me parks, so with no sarcasm at all I can say I found this really interesting to read. That and I'm a bit of a zoo goon too so that helps. Looks like a really lovely park, well maintained exhibits etc. looks like you guys had fun!

I've always wanted to visit Zoo Boo, it looks absolutely fantastic for families. What did you think of their haunts?
