Longleat Safari AND Adventure park

Yup, Longleat Safari park is adding a ride area!

And going by the plans, there's going to be a couple of coasters, couple of water rides and a handful of flats.

ThemeParks-UK can exclusively reveal plans for theme park rides at Longleat Safari & Adventure Park in Wiltshire.

The potential development, called Project Inca, would see Longleat become a cross between an animal park and a theme park. Successful examples of mixing theme park rides with animal attractions include Flamingo Land, Chessington World of Adventures and West Midland Safari & Leisure Park.
Possible rides shown on the plans include two roller coasters, a water shute, another water ride based around an Inca temple, a chair-o-plane, swinging ship, merry-go-round and another spinning type ride.

The new area of theme park rides would be located on currently unused land between the Longleat Caravan Club Site and the Jungle Express railway line, towards the end of Half Mile Lake near Pelican Cove. It would be accessed from the current Adventure Park by new paths and via a new Jungle Express station and a new Jungle Cruise dock, which would both transport people from the Jungle Kingdom area.
Thanks to Theme Parks UK and UKRides.

Ah cool, I hope this goes ahead. Longleat is one of the zoos that I've been meaning to visit for years, this might actually shift my arse in gear and finally get there.

It could be a big bowl of bread and butter pudding with whipped cream for all we know from the images ;)

:(.

It did not need any rides it was fine as it was.

When we were there I actually said how nice it was that there were no rides.

I remember seeing a programme a few years ago when they said this day would not happen. Maybe they feel it will help boost the numbers.

It will just be family rides I guess.

Feel a bit let down by this news as it was just so nice there without rides.

Suppose ill be accused of being negative lol.

looks good - they should get twist and shout from loudoun, it would be ideal "for the park"

mmmmm - bread and butter pudding!

Safari Parks on their own don't interest me, but this proposed park and a chance to wander around a stately home will have me going their gates! Hopefully some of the fab Marquess of Bath's eccentricity will be reflected in the park.

Will be interested to see how they price this as at the moment you can either pay for the house, the safari park or all inclusive.

If you just get the house ticket you cannot get on the train that takes you to the area this will be.

It's such a lovely place, the ground and everything. I think where they are building this is far enough away not to ruin the look of the park.

The safari is fantastic best I've ever been to, never had to stop the car to let lions cross before.

I know what you mean Ian, it will get people there who would not normally go. It was just nice to finally visit a park that had no rides lol.

The plans have been removed at the request of the park, which is why the image link Martyn posted is broken. Wonder if the park just didn't want this info to get out or if their plans have changed?

I did have a quick look for online plans yesterday but there are no planning applications for Longleat since 2003!

With no planning application in, it suggests this is a very early plan and they may not want it to get out as Longleat has a lot of houses locally. It could be that it will cause issues with their neighbours if a plan like that is seen rather than proper planning permission.

Or it may be one of a lot of ideas for the future of the park.

I've passed the park many times when visiting our site in Frome and travelling around the area, but never gone in as I've been on my own and suited and booted. Looks nice though on the TV :)

As a regular zoo visitor (not to Longleat though) I am quite surprised by the news! Would be an interesting development and would love to see Knightmare or Twist n' Shout given a new home here.

I had been considering a trip, but the entrance price of £20 put me off a bit because that's really expensive for a zoo, but maybe that included the house and other things as well, I can't remember.

All in all, very interesting, will be keeping an eye on this!

Maybe they thought they'd take advantage of some of the decent rides for sale in the UK at the moment and it's not really a planned decision at all (hence the slight out-of-characterness of the news).

Think we paid £35 for two days, there is so much to do and see you need more than a day there and that was out of season.

Add these rides it will be a two day park to see everything.

All the people over on zoochat are really annoyed about the news. Many are saying it's already overpriced (and they hardly ever go) and that it seems to be becoming more aimed at kids by the year. Interesting to see the complete reverse opinion of the park's "experience" on here!

You can never please everyone. :P

As much as I like animals, I don't think I could turn down a good coaster. As long as it IS good! Hoping we don't have to wait too long for more news on this!

We did not find it over priced at all, London Zoo charge more for less as do some others.

The thing is I don't think you could keep going back every year it's probably a place you goto every 5 years or so.

If people are going just for the zoo and not the house then yes it probably is on the expensive side.
