Jarrett's Kings Island Banshee Birthday Bash 6/5/2014

So for my birthday my parents gave me a Gold Pass and I decided to take my friends Patricia and Caity to the park with me on my birthday to celebrate.

I left around nine to pick Patricia up and she gave me the first part of my present, a card and a framed photo of us! I thanked her and then we got lost finding Caity's house, but after trying two apartment buildings, we met up. :p We then stopped at a gas station that had a pump that wouldn't take my debit card so I had to go in and get it handled inside, but after all that, we were on the road!

Upon getting to Mason, Patricia's eyes immediately went to Invertigo and just looking at it scared her enough to grab onto something! XD I told her we weren't riding that death trap and Caity confirmed it was horrible, so that was the first one we nixed from the lineup. After that, we got into the lot and parked! I had driven to Kings Island with no help!

First thing we did was wait in line so that Caity could get her pass processed, and while waiting, we noticed somebody taking this big guy to the pet daycare thing! Being a fellow Great Dane owner (we have a 1-year old harlequin named Zoey) I was quite familiar with the double takes and people whipping out their phones for pictures that you get when you take such a huge dog into public spaces.

After waiting in line we got into the park and headed to Action Zone. First ride was The Bat and Patricia actually didn't mind it, though Caity and I loved it since we're huge roller coaster people.

Banshee and its 45 minute wait (the longest it's ever been when I was there) were next. 19th ride, here I come! My 19th ride, Patricia's first invert, Caity's first ride on the new coaster!

LEFT TO RIGHT:
*That one guy is totes chill because he rides like an enthusiast.
*Caity is terrified out of her mind after finally meeting a coaster at Kings Island that terrified her.
*Patricia was also terrified but smiled for the picture
*Me being a natural idiot.

Lunch at Red's Hall of Fame Grill was next...and I got the best potato chip ever! It had blow up like a blimp!

Finished eating...Diamondback time!

The wait was long...but we passed the time with unauthorized selfies with each other!

The Beast had a line taking up all of its first cattlepen and one switchback of its second...the longest I'd seen it in years.

No worries, plenty of opportunities for unauthorized photography!

I LOVE this shot!

Nearing the station, we noticed that Windseeker was stuck close to the top! Sucks to have been on it then!

Patricia actually really liked The Beast and how it went nice and fast without going too high. But getting out of the second drop and into the double helix, I felt something hit my shoulder. Pulling into the brakes, Patricia looked really happy and ready for more. I asked her what had hit me in the shoulder, she told me, "my skull." The turn had jerked her sideways and she hit her head on my shoulder! It was probably really funny to watch! XD

Afterwards, Patricia learned the hard way why midway games are usually a waste of money playing Peach Basket trying to win a Pokemon.

Dinosaurs Alive was next and I have to admit, I loved it. Patricia's dream childhood job was a paleontologist, so getting to do that with her was a lot of fun. Caity also had learned that her Gold Pass got her free Dinosaurs Alive, so she was happy about that.

Flight of Fear was next. I had been there on Tuesday and again on Thursday and the lights in the indoor queue were still on. Come on, Kings Island, let there be dark! This just kills the atmosphere completely!

Best unauthorized selfie of the trip!

Flight of Fear was actually rougher than I remember it being in the front. It still smelled slightly of burnt metal in the bowl but the lights were working. The MCBR slowed us down pretty heavily too, I don't remember it doing that before the accident.

Patricia then wanted to redeem herself for screaming throughout all of Banshee and Diamondback, so we went back to Banshee and rode in the front. Patricia said she was finally cured of her fear of roller coasters after I told her two things during that experience. I first told her that she had ridden in a car (driven by me) down to the park and then climbed a staircase to get to the ride, both more dangerous than the actual ride. On the lift, she told me, "If I fall out, I'ma kill you!" I pointed out that she didn't fall out. :p She said she was finally over her fear of them and ready to ride some more.

We ended the day watching Cirque Imagine. It was my first time seeing the show and I loved it. I had seen Kinetix at BGW back in 2007 and I thought it was awesome, but this blew BGW out of the water! Glad to see Cedar Fair putting out shows that aren't cheesy music that nobody listens to anymore, if they get more shows on the level of Cirque Imagine than I could see Cedar Fair on par with Busch Gardens and Herschend in this department.

After we left...I KIND OF got us lost. :p I was supposed to get on 35 West, got us on 35 East that goes to Xenia. Took us an hour more than expected to get home...but the fun didn't end there! Driving around my town of residence to drop Caity off, there was one car at a light next to me that just took off. At the next light, this guy in the car is tapping on the glass daring me to race him on a public roadway. I did the legal thing and didn't take him up on it and went on a safe backroad as soon as I could to avoid these winners. I dropped Caity off and then drove back to my neighborhood to drop Patricia off. She then gave me her birthday present to me, a Beast hat that I had said I liked earlier! It says "Don't feed The Beast" and has some red scratches on the brim. She has a "Don't feed the wolves" t-shirt from Great Wolf Lodge in Mason, so it matches.

Overall, a great day, and I had such a great time with my friends! Can't wait to go back, because the next trip there I have planned is with Ian, ECG, and Darren B, should be fun with the four of us gooning the park up!

I wonder how long Windseeker stayed up there - surely, those riders got some front of the line passes for a few rides (CP does that)!
