TH13TEEN was the coaster to set the psychoaster scene, but has this new "psychological" ride reached the end already? Was it a one off?

You really do like your topics...

I never really understood the concept of it personally, if Th13teen is a 'Psychoaster' then how come X://NWO wasn't dubbed that either? It's silly in my opinion, so yes, it's dead like it was in the first place.

EDIT: 1300 posts on a topic about Th13teen. Freaky!

We'll see! TBH, there hasn't been that much demand for the B&M dive coaster, yet that particular model is far from being obsolete/at an end.

The psychoaster creation is only a year old. Give it time before dismissing the ride-type completely.

I wouldn't say it's at it's end, I think give it a more scary ride (eg.Griffon themed like th13teen) and it would be great...

^^^Anyway, the psychoaster type has been around for quite a while...wouldn't you say Oblivion is themed around fear?

So what if you make loads of topics? They're all interesting!

Im pretty sure that 'psychoaster' was just some dumb term AT made up when marketing Th13teen.

Yes, your right! I bet AT just made it up to big up TH13TEEN, and look how it ended up - a family coaster in a forest. Maybe AT should leave all the hyping up out of their marketing for future attractions; then their coasters/new rides will actually met with appreciation, not extreme let down.

Can you please clarify what you actually mean by Psycoaster? Are you talking about a coaster that's (supposedly) themed and designed to have a deep psychological impact? Or are you talking about the model of Intamin coaster with a drop section?

In relation to Thir123456teen. I can't really expand what I think into a coherent sentence so have a picture.

On the Concept of a coaster that can have the, as nic put it best, "coaster that's (supposedly) themed and designed to have a deep psychological impact". They can work, Oblivion is one. Hell, drop towers do it to me a **** tonne and while no coasters, Horror mazes are practically that concept alone...

*trauma*

As Spicy said, 'Psycoaster' is just a term AT made up. From what I remember they used it to describe the way the ride had been designed to scare people through a combination of both theming and the ride.
That in itself isn't even a ride type, i'm certain the majority of ride developers have thought about thrilling/scaring riders every creation, if they didn't what would be the point of the ride?
It was just Alton trying to make people think it was unique to that ride, i'm sure I read that they had consulted Psychologist's. . . It was all just a part of the marketing bombshell.

They weren't actual psychologists though, they were that bloke with the stupid glasses and ridiculous sideburns. From what I can fathom, he's an enthusiast that's made a career from having a a few sciency qualifications, and looking like a complete twat.

I don't think seven coasters is too bad? It's sold a lot more than loads of other coaster types at least.

Anyway, yeah, that "Psycoaster" thing is/was complete and utter marketing bollocks. It's not a coaster "type" at all.

^It's not a Psychoaster though. In fact, what even is a psychoaster?

A coaster that scares the guest? No. Nothing new there.
A coaster that mixes horror/thriller/spooky themes? No. Nothing new there.
A coaster that has a vertical drop section? No. Nothing new there.

A Psychoaster is a **** marketing term. There isn't even one, let alone the possibility of another. The coaster at Busch is simply a coaster with a vertical drop section.

^^What Hixee said. . .

'Free fall' is the type of coaster, psycoaster is a term made up by AT to describe how they designed Thirteen.

The fact that a ride has a 'free fall' doesn't make it a Psycoaster.

Personally, I think AT have made a HUGE marketing mistake with th13teen because it's not exactly "the ultimate rollercoaster"...and to be fair, I wasn't scared at all!

It's more of a junior ride which has been marketed as the scariest ride ever, which makes it unlikely that any small kids will want to go on it, and adults won't want to go on it again...

The psychoaster is just a term to disguise the fact that the ride is actually ****

If "psychoaster" = family drop coaster, we've already seen them in the past (Winjas) and will do in the future (Verbolten). I think it's a great idea and works very well on Winjas at least! (haven't been on Thirteen) But the term "psychoaster" is a bit messed up.. Family drop coaster is what it is and that's what it's supposed to be called as well (imo)!
