Um, it's sitting there doing nothing.

How is this news at all? They're not building it sweetie, give it up.

^But why??

Anyway, if they were going to build it then how and what would you think?

Perhaps they're still trying to get planning permission or something?

It's probably because there is something really wrong with it, if it's been sitting in storage since 2006 it isn't going to be in great shape. Probably mothballed to help the other Intamin and early B&M standups.

It was built in 1986 so I guess so...

Has anyone here ridden Batman the escape? If so what was it like?

Why buy a coaster that doesn't work?

Yes. Bad.

Its just rotting away in a field. Leave it to die in peace.

Nothing to see here; move along.

Well they didn't buy it, it had been in the Six Flags chain since 1986 and they just moved it to, what was at the time, Six Flags Darien Lake. Probably because that park hapenned to have spare space.

Presumably instead of scrapping it they deemed it worth keeping either for spare parts or in case one of their parks was urgently in need of a new, cheap ride. It's (for all intents and purposes) a B&M, it can't be in too bad nick.

Sorry I can't be more help on this one! :)

So the chances are that this ride will probably never open again...perhaps... :(

It's Intamin/Giovalnola according to RCDB...

Yeah this is actually a really good topic to bring up... Nobody seems to really know what the rides future is but just expect it to be scrapped. Im kind of with everyone on that one because it does make sense, however i wouldn't write it off just yet. The park still has it, and havent as yet tried to sell it or scrap it so it might just have the slimmest of slim chances of being re-built, And i say this because new/old stand-up's are all the rave right now and Derian Lake may need a little something to bring the crowds back next year after this years disaterous season! hopeful thinking maybe, but stranger things have happened.

Someone needs to re-check their definition of "new".

It first opened in 1986 - opposite of new

It's operated at 3 parks - not new.

It's been in storage for 5 years - not new.

Everything about it - not new.

^ I specifically said new/old...... Chang/Green Lantern, Iron Wolf/Apocolypse, old rollercoasters relocated and re-branded for a 'new' feel. hopefully thats cleared that up

If Amanda Thompson got a hold of it this would be 'new'

She would grab a chainsaw and scrap it herself.

I rode it a few times at SFGAdv & it was my first stand-up. I don't recall it being that bad, but compared to the ones I've ridden since it probably isn't that good either. I can tell you that it wasn't as bad as Shockwave at Kings Dominion.

Oh thank god, that ride was horrid.

Honestly I have no idea what they're doing there. Might turn it into a pretty art thing or something.
