Hyde Park Winter Wonderland: The Return

Coasterfreck

Hyper Poster
Following Storm Darragh postponing the original intended date of the 7th December for the Hyde Park Winter Wonderland trip, with @TalTheMajestic we rescheduled this to yesterday the 30th December.

We went up to London in the morning, with an annoying Saturday service so the Piccadilly on a peak day so the tubes were rammed.

Once got to Hyde Park Winter Wonderland we headed straight over to Olympia Looping or it’s alternative title Munich Looping for Tal’s first time experiencing it. We head straight to the front row. I absolutely loved getting back onto it for the first time since 2018! It’s such a forceful coaster. The main drawback for this coaster being the hellish OTSR. I had completely forgotten just how painful those restraints are, especially when you got stapled when they check the bars.

We headed over to Wild Maus XXL, the first new to me cred of the trip, the coaster was a lot of fun to experience, and first time being back on a Mack Wild Mouse since Jungle Coaster was removed from Legoland Windsor, it seemed to be running with no trim activation absolutely loved the craziness of that wild mouse.

Side note; Jigsaw would probably be quite happy to claim the torture device of its fun house queueline.

Then we went over to Ice Mountain, for my second new to me cred, as I had never bothered with it on my previous trips. Me and Tal were batched with two light riders on our car, so we were very unbalanced, which caused us to spin to a crazy level, I like spinning coaster as much as the next person, as long as the next person likes spinning coasters.

Then we headed over to Euro Coaster, the cred that I have ridden before, and it was as janky as it was in my memory. I do appreciate the unique qualities of this inverted wild mouse, as it does give a different angle of the experience.

Now we headed back over to Olympia Looping for our final ride of 2024, again we went with the front row again, this time being a tiny bit more prepared with the restraints and thankfully this time didn’t get stapled by the host this time, which did make the experience slightly less painful for my shoulders. Both of our rides were on the Pink train number 3, on the second ride it was absolutely hauling through the layout.

It was a fantastic time and a great way to end the 2024 season, and although it was an expensive trip, the pre-booking of the two rides on Olympia and Wild Mouse did atleast help spread the cost, next time I would only buy the on ride photos from Olympia.

We spent approximately 2 hours inside the park, and then headed back via the hellish underground back to mine, before then concluding the day with food and then we saw Mufasa: The Lion King.

Let’s see what 2025 will bring, hoping to tick off a few more new to me parks, if finances will allow for it! :)
