Happy US National Roller Coaster Day!

On this date, 114 years ago in 1898, the first patent was awarded for the roller coaster (and more importantly the vertical loop). Prior to this patent there were many scenic railways, but it was not until the turn of the century that we saw true roller coaster design flourish to include turns, loops, and other elements.

So go ride a roller coaster!
 
I had no idea, nor could a flying **** be given about Roller Coaster Day, but I did indeed ride two coasters today. So, yay me.
 
I was at SeaWorld in San Diego that day. Rode Manta, Atlantis & two of the three Tijuana, Mexico credz. :--D
 
Work didn't appreciate me calling in and saying I had a religious holiday. I didn't want to lose any more vacation days, so I had to go to work that day.

I never realized there was actually a national roller coaster day though until this year. If it happens to be on a more convenient day, then I'll go to a park next year.
